Mahalo for having chosen the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali. We hope to host you again soon.

Great view in EVERY Room!!!!!!

Some of the rooms need to be updated and are older, but every room at the Mahana has a beach front view of the water!!! Best place to stay for the view! They all have a balcony where you can sit and watch the sun set! Every room has a full kitchen and a grocery store within 5 minute walk. We saved money on breakfast and lunch by eating in the room or making it and taking it with us for the day then went out for dinners. I look forward to the next stay here!

Amazing location!!!

Pros: the location and value
Cons: updating the overall room (sinks, shower, etc..)
Location: its right on the beach! There is also whalers village (although its expensive to park), farmers market, restaurants, etc..
You will watch some of the most amazing sunsets from your private patio. The room was clean and the hotel is in a prime location in west maui. It is a great value, but it could use some updating (which I believe they are in the process of). If you need to get groceries- go to TIMES across the street- we went to several other grocery stores and it is one of the few that had reasonable prices. Also, the 'farmers market' is a few blocks away on mon, wed, and fri mornings.

Pros: nothing
Cons: Everything!
Location: There was a nice shopping center across the street with a few good places to eat.
This hotel is run down and there is absolutely nothing to do on the grounds. There is not place to eat at the hotel, no gym, small pool right next to the lobby with no privacy. The room furniture was so old and the bed was so uncomfortable. The bed laid right on the ground.

OK place to sleep but go hang out elsewhere

We wanted to try a different place to stay in Maui but remain in the Kaanapali area. The Aston Mahana had decent reviews so we thought we'd give it a try. Well it's right on the beach, which is wonderful for views and ocean sounds, but it's a far cry from the quality and amenities you get at any of the "regular hotels" along the stretch with the Hyatt, Marriott, Westin, Sheraton, etc. This place was definitely dated, a bit grungy and worn (carpets, paint, etc.), had a very small pool, etc. It's less expensive and you get what you pay for, as usual. If all you want is a place to sleep, then stay here and you'll save some money for shopping. But don't expect to hang out here much.

The View!

Loved it. Decor was a little dated but the room was clean and everything worked. You simply cannot beat the view. This section of the beach is less crowded than the other side of Black Rock. Alot of reef out front that is great for snorkeling. You have to walk a short way to find a sandy spot to get in the water. Saw whales and turtles off our lanai most days. We bought fresh fish at a nearby market and cooked on the grills by the pool. Really enjoyed our stay.

This was a great place right on the beach with an amazing view.

Pros: Close restaurants, great view and on the ocean
Cons: tub/shower drain didn't work the best
My family of 4 loved this place. It was an ocean view with a balcony that we used all the time. it was right on a great beach. The full kitchen was perfect for us, and it was close to some nice restaurants too. It was comfortable and easy access to lots of terrific places. I would recommend it and go there again.

We had a wonderful time at this hotel

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, the gas grill area, full kitchen
My husband and I spent 8 nights in this hotel. We came to Maui to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We can't say enough about the Aston Mahana. Every room is truly ocean front with a beautiful sandy beach that stretches for miles. We walked the beach everyday and slept everynight listening to the ocean waves. The on site gas grill down by the pool and the local fresh fish and produce market (which are in walking distance) made for two convenient but delicious dinners. We also walked to Duke's beach front restaurant next door. The food was fabulous. We created so many wonderful memories and we truly hope that we are able to get back to Maui in our lifetime and we will most certainly stay at the Aston Mahana! Todd and Kathy
