The lobby itself is beautiful and seems to have a lot of money spent on it, staff were super friendly when checking in a knew the answer to all our questions. The location is great and pretty central to everywhere we needed to be. However the room itself and corridors smelt of cigarettes and weed, the rooms need to be updated as much at the hotel lobby. The bathroom did the job but was basic and the extractor fan is needing replaced, due to there being no window after showers the bathroom was soaked with condensation and stayed like that for hours. We payed additional for a window but it was dirty and the paint was chipped. Overall the hotel was fine for our 1 night stay however wouldn’t stay for more than that

Upon checkin we were told each person needed photo id. We weren’t told this via Expedia . We had a child with us who with whom is with us two weekends a month and we don’t have their passport or photo id / there are 12. We then managed to show an app my Partner luckily has access to via the school, my partner is a dad whose ex wife had an affair and move kids away and we’ve spent 10k just to see them every other weekend and was taking the away for a concert - he felt discriminated against and they threatened to call his ex wife for id ! He’s got PR and his ex wife Can’t know our location etc so it was an extremely frustrated check-in. If we had known prior we would have got photo id,

Basic, shabby and stingy provision

Room was sweltering with only a small totally ineffective and very noisy fan for which the ONLY socket was too far away to get it anywhere near the bed. TV was old and rubbish, very clunky to use. Only one pillow each and not enough towels. Overall basic, shabby and stingy provision, felt very unwelcome. I know it's a three star hotel but it wasn't cheap! Also why on earth do you have to provide photo id for minors? No encouragement to think about being eco-friendly or attempt to promote or educate re this, not a sniff of recycling. I've never been asked to do this anywhere else UK or abroad.

Good value for a centre stay

Hotel was OK for a nights stay. Very hot with one small fan for a triple room. Basic in features and uncomfortable bed but not so bad you couldn't sleep. Fridge would be a great addition. But good for the price. The breakfast was OK for a cheap city centre hotel. Some decent coffee would be good. However at the price it met my expectations, only mentioning these points so customers are aware

The building itself is beautifully outside and the all inside public areas but thats all.The welcome entrance door mat is filthy and doors badily chipped and dirty The bedrooms are shocking like an after thought. Holes on walls has fillers left like that, ceiling above beds stained from a leak single beds are the hardest you could sleep on the bathroom a lot needs to be done, a brownish thin carpet which looks dirty that you dont was to take off your shoes. Very noisy as we had the portland street facing bedroom the traffic noise The staff refused to move us as the hotel was full but we checked websites their own and 3rd party websites were all still selling their rooms.

The check-in experience was terrible. Arrived with four friends who got their rooms straight away, while we had to wait another 40 minutes despite people in front of us getting their rooms too. Great location for affordable hotel

Excellent location and very affordable. The curtains don’t fully cover the whole window so let a bit of sunlight in and the doors are designed that guests slam them shut so that wakes you up but you definitely get a great stay in central Manchester for a good price
