me and my boyfriend stayed here we were put on the top floor but had no windows at all. all throught the night there was really loud banging wich made us feel so unsafe. the room smelled so damp and the fire alarm even went off in the early hours of the morning around 5 am making us jump and wake up. we asked if we could move but the staff were rude and said no. me and my boyfriend had gone out on our first night for an evening meal and some drinks when we came back to the hotel staff where giving greif to other guests and asking for names and proof that we were staying here we showed them our room card gave names and even told our room number but this wasn’t enough it took us around an hour to sort this out and get back to our room this happened again on the second night

Brittania has a reputation for having grand old hotels but ... The age and lack of maintenance makes £100 for one night ... A bit much when the ceilings have cracks, peeling paint work and random huge lamps as the only option for lighting (so easy to knock off). However, it is what it is and it was clean and safe as far as I could tell.

I did state when booking that I was disabled. No facilities at this hotel. Stairs everywhere. Location is good for Manchester centre. But wronge hotel for me. Beds are really uncomfortable old and very worn. Not worth the price charged.

Good room, comfortable - was given a room with a window when didn’t pay for one. However, was on the Main Street which loud throughout the night and the club/bar downstairs was very loud and kept me awake a lot of the night

This hotel needs millions of pounds spent on it. Not quite as bad as its sister, the Adelphi in Liverpool. But it has tatty old fashioned carpets, a room with no window and virtually no plug sockets, with a plug in electric wall radiator or heating, chipped bath, etc. The reception area is a poor conversion, there are endless corridors with badly designed fire doors, and the facade of the building black with grime. Reminds me of Blackpool c.1970. But it is not disgusting. Linen and room were clean, and there was plenty of coffee and tea. Sadly, this is a once luxury hotel, in a good location, which is not up to the standards of a Premier Inn.

The hotel was very central and easy to find. Check in was quick enough. The room was clean and tidy but bed's mattress was a bit rough, could maybe be done with replacing. Other than that, it was decent enough - probably would stay again.
