There really is something for everyone; golf at the prestigious Royal Birkdale, bird watching along the coast, and the very rare red squirrels at Formby. Southport itself boasts a theatre, lovely parks and Splash World, as well as playing host to a wide selection of events ranging from the National Fireworks Display, and an air show together with jazz, food and drink festivals. Liverpool can be reached in approximately an hour by car and Chester, Manchester and Preston are all within driving distance also.
