Secluded Cabin

The location of this cabin was near the trails. It was nice and secluded. Two days prior to our stay, a storm went through. There was a large tree that fell over the fire pit and took down the lights surrounding it. This was one of my reasons for booking this cabin, as I love white outdoor lights. You can’t predict what Mother Nature will do, but it disappointed me that it wasn’t lit. That was a bummer for us, but after contacting the owner, the tree was cleared the following day. The cabin could use a fresh coat of paint, and the water smells of sulfur. We did take our own drinking water, and there was a Brita filter in the fridge. The bedding wasn’t what I’d call luxury, but it didn’t keep us from a good night’s sleep. The ceiling fan rattles on the high setting, so we kept it on low. There weren’t an abundance of drinking glasses, but for two people it is ok. The charcoal grill listed was similar to what you’d see in a park. We were glad we didn’t plan to use it. The bathroom washcloths were in the bedroom drawer, which I didn’t find til we left. I did find garbage (wad of hair and a bandaid wrapper) behind the bathroom trash upon arrival. Im a neat freak, so that really grossed me out. The Wi-Fi worked great, and the Keurig was appreciated.

Great Location

The cabin was within 5-15 minutes of every hiking spot/attraction. Grandma Faye's was a cute shop close by that had some groceries and souvenirs. The driveway is easily accessible and not too steep for anyone driving a sedan. The only complaint is that quite a bit of dog hair was left on the couch behind from a previous renter. Not a big deal to us, but it was unpleasant to see. We didn't use the fire pit, but we enjoyed sitting on the front porch and using the hot tub. Overall, a great place for a short getaway.

Cozy Getaway

nice getaway to be able to relax and unwind on the couch cuddling by the fire, the hot tub was nice after a long day. The two person shower was spacious and nice to relax in. We encountered only a few issues while staying, the shower door doesn't stay close due to a missing/rusted magnet. The lower cabinet doors don't shut all the way and the gas fire place can only be run on lower setting or it would set smoke alarm off in bedroom but not the one next to it. There wasn't any type of sponge or scrubber to hand wash larger dishes. Several window screens seem to be falling out, were damaged. The front door does not seal properly. The furnace wallet said it was heating the air coming out of vents was chilly. The bed while comfortable needed a thicker comforter as the cabin got chilly at night.

Everything was great except the Internet

The cabin was nice, clean, and cozy. The kitchen was basic but functional. The hot tub was nice and actually hot! The King size bed was a nice surprise and we slept well. We were happy with the property location close to the Buckeye Trail, Hocking Hills, and Hocking State Forest. The only real problem we encountered was flaky satellite Internet. We were unable to do online trip planning while at the cabin, many websites and apps would not even load properly. Trying to use the Internet mostly led to frustration and wasted time. After contacting the property owner through the various communication methods provided, we never really got satisfaction on the issue.

Beautiful cabin. 4pm check-in was a little late to be able to do much the first day. Also remember the code for the door as it locks behind you.

Amazing location, cozy cabin!

I think my favorite part of this cabin was the location! We were within 6 miles from the state park and some great local restaurants were within 10 mins as well. Tucked back in surrounded by woods, quiet and peaceful. Bed was comfortable, hot tub was nice, and loved the large bathroom. We also absolutely loved having the fireplace on while watching tv and putting our feet up after a long day of hiking. A few things I would recommend perhaps updating or changing… It would be really nice to have a door mat when you enter the house and somewhere to put our shoes. It was rainy when we stayed for the weekend, so it was hard walking in with muddy/wet shoes and nowhere to wipe them off or put them. It would also be nice to have extra towels/hand towels. The hand soap was… Odd. You could scrub and wash your hands over and over and the soap would never come off. A weird film/slime was left on my hands from the soap even after washing, had to wipe off with a towel. Otherwise, it’s a very cute and comfortable cabin with an amazing location!

Very clean cabin. The maintenance staff were professional and very nice. Handle the minor problem within the hour. Nothing major just a smoke detector beeping. It’s everything we wanted and more! Great place!!

Great for quick getaway

Perfect for a quick getaway. Cabin had everything we needed to enjoy a meal in and time by the fire. Did not realize it was located on a main road but there were not many cars going by at night. And would love to have the check in info sent via Vrbo chat instead of just email. But all worked out. Recommend it for couples looking for a simple escape.

Nice

The cabin was clean, cozy, nicely decorated. It has a cabin feel with modern look. The front of the property is within view of the road but there wasn't alot of traffic. The fire pit is also out front. The yard is sloped so it made it difficult to arrange the chairs around the fire to avoid the smoke. The hot tub was great. It was located in the back for more privacy. We had an issue with the bed frame being broken prior to our arrival. I contacted the property mgmt and they responded quickly to address the issue. Overall, it was a great experience and a nice place to stay. Close to all the sites HH has to offer.

Simple but lovely Honeynoon

This was the perfect getaway after a very hectic few months of working 80+ hours per week on top of wedding planning and then wedding day execution. The owner/property manager was very responsive when I asked for an extra night, which happened to be available, and tacked that right on for us. The cabin was beautiful and the location was great, only 1 other cabin next to ours but no views of them from the hot tub and the trees blocked the view of their cabin at the front. We had a bonfire each night and the hot tub was great for two people after a day of hiking. Place was a short drive to most trails and a 30-45 minute drive to other attractions. Plenty of places to eat, but we cooked at the cabin & thanks to other reviews, brought pot holders and extra dish towels with us for the kitchen. It had most everything else one would need and all the appliance you’d need. The hand soup was watered down, but I brought some with and left it for the next people. If you’re used to municipal or city water, the water in Hocking may not be what you’re used to, so bring bottled for coffee maker and drinking if you’re particular. Also, shower is a rain shower head from the ceiling, so bring a shower cap if you don’t wanna get your hair wet each shower. This is a great option for one or two people trying to get away from the hustle and bustle and settle down in nature for a few days! The pricing was very fair for this homey feeling cabin. I hope we’ll get to go back some day!
