The gent who.offered us mulled wine at the entrance as there was a little queue... That was a lovely start to our visit. He was also very friendly. The gent in the bar on early mornings was lovely. Also the girl in the cocktail bar on the Sat morning....

We had a wonderful stay! The staff were attentive and friendly. We loved the cocktail bar for cosy drinks in the evening. The room was clean and very comfortable. It felt very magical at Christmas and we would love to return one day.

Room was lovely, spotless apart from the many ceiling and wall cobwebs! Single beds were made very uncomfortable by the mattress toppers folded over the edges which gave way when sat on to get in/out of bed. Turning in bed also awkward. A single bed made to look bigger isnt clever nor was it comfortable. One bed sheet had several streaks on it that looked like they came from a machine so we didnt complain. Room had disability items in bathroom but wasnt a disability room which was strange. Breakfast was very disappointing for a 4*. Fruit had been sitting in water ( tasted like) for a long time- melon and pineapple were waterlogged and unpleasant. sausages were cheap quality, mushrooms, tomatoes barely cooked, bacon overcooked and hard. Staff, without exception were top notch, particularly in the breakfast room. Waited a long time to have a stay here and it did not meet expectations of a lesser starred hotel.very dissapointing

Beautiful hotel grounds with exceptional staff. Can't fault this hotel. We had a double double as we were with our young daughter. The room was spacious and clean, we all enjoyed the pool and spa and breakfast was plentiful. We've stayed here before and will definitely return for many years.

We arrived after midnight due to traffic chaos but staff were waiting & very friendly & helpful. Hotel is beautifully decorated for Christmas & very cosy. Breakfast is plentiful & delicious especially the haggis :-). Takeaway hot drinks available too. Beautiful countryside setting, very quiet but walk down the drive & catch the x27 or x28 bus on the main road & you can be at Princes Street in the City centre in 1/2hr max. Would thoroughly recommend & will definately be back again.
