The Welcoming we received was excellent, Emsley was a splendid person to start off the holiday experience.Calabash villa is located in a wonderful area, close to a group of amenities. The only downside is the Aircon system which needs to looked at and possible upgrade.The overall process of booking and communication was brilliant. some equipment needs upgrading. The family love the Villa and the local beach.

Amazing, highly recommend

We had an amazing stay at this villa! The views were absolutely stunning—sunsets from the terrace were unforgettable. The villa was perfectly set up for our group of 8, with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Communication with the hosts was brilliant throughout, and a special thank you to Jenny who looked after us so well—even thoughtfully texting us to let us know that restaurants wouldn’t be serving alcohol on Good Friday. It’s those little touches that make a big difference! We’re already missing the beautiful beaches, the peaceful poolside days, and those magical sunsets. We’d highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a special getaway!

Lovely Villa

Beautiful villa with amazing views and in a lovely part of the island. We loved the big spacious feel of the living room. Air conditioning was also very welcome.All of the bathrooms could do with an upgrade especially the showers, but bedrooms were well appointed with lots of storage & with lovely soft linen. There's plenty of towels provided for pool and beach. Pool area was great and kitchen had everything you needed. We had to change the gas bottle over which might be challenging for some as might the spiral staircase to lower bedrooms. There's access them from outside stairs once you have unlocked the doors.Something to be aware of - the road to the villa is extremely steep and the next-door neighbour has put up a dangerous fence at the bottom which isn't straight but curves inwards and has no reflectors or markers on it making it not visible at all at night time. It significantly damaged our hire car. The pictures on advert show the villa as secluded surrounded by greenery - it doesn't show the two new builds next door, one overlooking the pool area. Unfortunately, the noise proved to be very loud with angle grinding, tile cutting, drilling and concrete mixer constantly going. It really spoilt our stay. This was such a shame as it was lovely and peaceful when the builders were not there.Highly recommend going on the Jabberwocky Boat, Julia's, Dennis's on Ffryes Beach.Cosmore & Brandon the taxi drivers were legends and Antiguan locals warm and welcoming.

Lovely location and house

The villa was lovely and close to Darkwood beach. Beautiful views and the pool was clean and great to swim in. Howard was super helpful and Jenny and her son checking in with us to see that we were ok. Overall a great stay The only two things to mention are the road to the villa which you do need an SUV for ideally. Also, the building works which we knew would be going in next door during our stay are noisy, even at the weekends.

Amazing

From the moment we arrived and we were met by Jenny we knew we were in for a great holiday. The villa contained above and beyond what is needed for the perfect break. Plenty of room, superb views, perfect pool and so much more… and ended on a high as Howard very kindly offered us the use of the villa until we had to leave for the airport later in the afternoon… such a blessing . We had an absolutely wonderful time!!! The home is beautiful, and the property manager and owner were very responsive and accommodating. The views and privacy are priceless. The only recommendation is to put padding on the beds which were a little tough to sleep on if staying more than a week. We stayed 10 days and plan to come again....

Wonderful stay at Calabash Villa

We had a wonderful holiday with our family in Calabash. Very large and luxurious Villa with spacious bedrooms all with en suite bathrooms. A well equipped kitchen and large lounge area with dining table and chairs. A large pool with sun loungers and chairs, and wonderful view over Darkwood Beach and surrounding area. Also a great view of the nightly sunsets. Also Gas BBQ with outside table and chairs which got well used. Howard and his management team are friendly and helpful and easy to contact for help and advice. We all had a fantastic time at Calabash xx

Fabulous!!

I have recently returned from a 10day stay with my girlfriends in this villa and it lived up to our expectations. The view is amazing! The location is quiet and peaceful. Darkwood beach is within walking distance and is beautiful. Both Howard and Jenny were very responsive though-out. The road up to the villa does require a SUV. I would definitely revisit this villa

Paradise!

Calabash was a beautiful escape with everything you could possibly need. The house is roomy, gorgeous and fit our party of 8 perfectly! The views are breathtaking and surreal. The house was clean and well stocked with all the amenities you could possibly need. Jennie was super informative and helpful and Howard had a grill issue fixed within hours. I would highly recommend this paradise on your next trip to Antigua! We will definitely be back!

Great Place for a family Vacation!

It was a beautiful experience after the initial booking issues we had, The place actually looks better than the pictures tell, it has everything you need and more, it gives you the feeling of home away from home. Once you can get through the short bumpy stretch to the Villa, there will be a pleasant smile on your face, to say i am finally home. Thanks to Jane for her professionalism and kindness, I wont fail to say thank you to Mr. Howard who was around a couple of times to see how we were doing. In all, this Villa comes highly recommended.

Paradise on the hill

Beautiful property with unbelievable views. Jennie the on-site manager was tremendous and very knowledgeable. We had a minor a/c problem that was timely corrected. I would strongly recommend this property. The only improvement we could think of would be a ceiling fan in the kitchen.

Just Wonderful

My family of 4 stayed here in the "off " season. The house is beautiful, well equiped, comfortable and I'd give it more stars if I could. We loved the privacy, the pool, the charcoal grill, etc. We also LOVED that the best beach - darkwood beach - is basically a 3 min car ride away - the brave could walk it - hills and very rocky. And most days - we owned the beach. Chairs, umbrellas and the like may be rented there. Jenny was very gracious and accommodating. She greeted us when we arrived, gave us a tour, restaurant suggestions etc. She was also there to say goodbye when we were departing. We loved the free pickup from and back to airport transportation that this rental provided as well. Only note of caution for American travelers; if you rent a car - (and it will be there for you at the house when you arrive) - the steering wheel is on the opposite side from American cars and you drive on the other side of the road than we do. We really feel one does need a car there. And the hill up to the house is a very difficult one to manage. My 25 year old son, with good skills and nerves did all of the driving there. But that was the one "challenge" to this trip. We found the people, island and its culture just awesome. We loved the trip!!!

Awesome Stay with Awesome Views

My Party of 6 stayed here Aug 2-9th for Carnival. 4 Bedroom with 4 FULL Baths was perfect. Owners & Host Jenny kept in touch during the stay. House was VERY VERY CLEAN. AC Units works & also Ceiling Fans helped keep he House cool. WIFI & Cable kept us connected with the US. Darkwood Beach is just down the Hill, food, drinks and views. Washer/Dryer/Gas stove/BBQ grill on pool deck. Host offered Car Service but we frequent he island & our transportation was secured prior to arrival. Best Bang for your Buck. Will Most definitely stay here again.

Wonderful location and home!

We had a great stay at Calabash! So relaxing and peaceful. We were able to walk to the beach every morning. No issues with our stay at all. Jenny was great at telling us all of the great features on the house and some places to go for dinner and to see sunsets. This house will not disappoint you! We were met at the airport and the driver gave us a narrative of the island as he drove us to the house. So many great beaches close by. We came back to real life tanned and relaxed!

Lovely villa in a wonderful location!

An absolutely wonderful villa with a view that left us speechless! The local Darkwood beach was one of the best on the island, beautiful sand and a lovely place to snorkel, all with the added bonus of a friendly beach bar! St. Johns is a vibrant town and well worth a visit to experience the real Caribbean. Take a trip through the rain forest to English Harbour and Nelson's Dockyard and on your way back call at Colesome on Jonas Road, for fresh local fruit and veg. Emalyn was so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble whilst we were there. Howard made booking and getting to Calabash really easy, the driving directions were so easy to follow! I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to anyone who wants to visit Antigua and avoid the commercial, tourist hotels. I would love to return!

Perfect Villa For a Family Getaway!

Our family had an excellent stay at Calabash at the Palms! There were 8 of us (6 adults and two children ages 6 yrs & 17 months old).The description is accurate as are the pictures, but it is more beautiful in person. The view is amazing and it is quiet and peaceful. The kitchen is well appointed, we had breakfast every morning and a combination of lunch and dinner at the villa or out at restaurants.There is a BBQ grill available also if you want to grill out. Jenny was wonderful and helpful, and suggested great places to see and dine and Howard is very attentive with anything you need regarding booking etc. Both are very helpful with any questions or concerns you may have while in Antigua. The property is very clean and very well maintained. The pool is delightful or you can take a quick walk/drive down to Darkwood beach which is wonderful. It's very easy to feel at home and not want to leave. There are some great places to eat close by such as Miracles and Dennis', and there is a grocery store nearby with pretty much everything you need.You'll need to get bottled water I will add that you definitely need some mosquito/bug repellent for you stay as they can be pretty pesky when the sun starts to set. Renting this villa and a car is the best way to TRULY experience Antigua. You give yourself the opportunity to do and see things you normally will not if you stay at a resort and get access to more local places such as restaurants, and shops.You can buy local things roadside such as roast corn, ginipps, sweet apples and other wonderful things! Our experience was so great and we are referring all of our friends who want to visit Antigua to Howard.

We took a family vacation in July. We had a wonderful time at the Calabash. Jenny was the best! She was available to answer any questions or concerns that we had. There were a few maintenance issues, but Jenny ensured that it was taken care of in a timely manner. The house was beautiful, it was a lot better in person. It was a shock having only a TV in the living area (with 8 people). However, it worked out great! We were able to disconnect from the TV. Something that we thought wouldn't be possible. The water is not drinkable, so you would need to buy bottles of water. Jenny even brought us a big bottle of water on our arrival. The area was great and we never felt that we were not safe. The trip to St. John was a little longer that I anticipated, and the roads made it seem more longer. Before the trip, I was a little nervous about booking on this website (always stayed in a hotel). However, Howard was available to answer all of my questions and walk me through this process that was unfamiliar to me. Our family would definitely visit the Calabash again. Thank you Howard and Jenny for such wonderful accommodation.
