A Great Stay!

The house was well provisioned and the location could not have been better. So close to everything yet a peaceful, quiet neighborhood at the same time. The kayaks were an awesome bonus perk! Paddle out into the brook, take a left, and in just a few minutes you have an awesome view of the whole river and TIAA Bank Field across the way. Would definitely stay here again.

Best Vacation!!!!

We had the best time staying here. We stayed for the Christmas holiday and didn’t miss home one bit! We could’ve kayaked for hours and it was close to everything in town. Joel was easy to connect with and promptly answered any questions we had. We couldn’t recommend this property enough. It was very dog friendly, and my disabled brother was also able to get around with ease. Thank you so much for a great holiday!!!!

Great property but home needs updating

The property was great but entire home needs to be updated. It is also extremely dark around the home at night without any flood lights or even a front porch light.

Thoroughly adequate

Pros:- lovely view with wildlife right on display. We saw herons swooping and fish jumping right from our seat on the couch. - wonderful kayaking & fishing- plenty of linens, paper supplies, and toiletries- affordably pricedCons:- home is very outdated and several things needed repair including a doorknob that kept falling off, blinds that are old, dusty, and difficult to open/close, sliding glass door difficult to open/close)- a/c struggled to keep up with hot days although the window unit helped. Overall would stay again because my active children loved the outdoor space.

Our stay at Brookside

Communication with the owner was pleasant. The first morning we were there we noticed the coffee maker was leaking. We later found out that there was a crack in it so we were unable to have coffee during our stay. We ended up going out for coffee. The comforter in the master bedroom was not clean. There was evidence left on the comforter. We did find water bugs in the shower. The house needs a lot of attention. The pictures on the website Were different from what we expected. The view from the back glass doors was very nice, however, the glass door was very difficult to open. Overall, we probably would never stay in this particular home. Again, the owner was very pleasant and easy to contact.

Family visit

Beautiful view and enjoyed watching birds and 6foot gator. The house is a strange layout, the bathrooms are in hallway by each other, then the two bedrooms. Master bedroom light and fan did not work. Light above shower did not work. The house was hot From the sun shining in the windows all day, blinds do not roll down. We bought another fan to help with circulation. Luckily we were gone during the day. Light in refrigerator didn’t work.. Grass wasn’t mowed, We didn’t go out on the deck, as the only way on it was from the living room, which the door didn’t open, and other glass door was broke, so we decided not to chance it. Dishwasher was broke when we got there.

Awesome and relaxing view...but some things to know going in...

I recently stayed at this property and had a mixed experience. The view was absolutely stunning, offering a fantastic opportunity to watch the tides and observe local wildlife like spoonbills, egrets, ibises, and even gators. The kayaks were easy to launch, and I enjoyed using the charcoal grill every night. If you’re looking for a peaceful nature getaway, this location is wonderful. However, the property’s condition was disappointing. The interior feels dated and somewhat cheap, with broken and bent blinds and kitchen items that felt like they came from a college dorm. The sliding glass door, which an earlier review mentioned, was indeed hard to open and wouldn’t close properly. The deck is large but lacked outdoor furniture, which made it less enjoyable to use. To improve your stay, I’d recommend bringing camping gear like fold-up chairs and a table for the deck and shaded areas by the water. Binoculars can enhance your wildlife viewing, and packing your own towels and large cooking pots would be beneficial. While the property’s condition might be due to cost constraints, the location and view are exceptional. Just be prepared for the dated aspects of the house.

CAUTION

Caution: this rental had (and might still have) health and safety issues. We booked 21 nights from March 6 – March 27, 2024, but only stayed there for four hours! As we were bringing in our personal items, we decided to open the living room door wall to access the deck and look at the water. The door wall door would not open. We called the host who sent his handyman to repair the door, but he could not fix it. Since this door wall is the only exit door on the north side of the property, it is considered a fire exit and did (does?) not meet Florida Building Codes: 2020 FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, BUILDING, 7TH EDITION | ICC DIGITAL CODES (iccsafe.org) – Chapter 10. We disputed the total cost of this rental which the Credit Card Company investigated and agreed to and refunded all of our money. During the dispute communications between the property host and the Credit Card Investigators, the property host continually provided untrue statements regarding the ordeal. We provided proof that his statements were not true. Therefore, we would suggest believing the comments of the other renter’s reviews and not the host when deciding to rent this VRBO. If you rent this VRBO – GOOD LUCK – you will need it!

Cozy life getaway

This house was perfect for our trip to visit our kids. Even though it was an older home it had all the necessities! We LOVED the wall of windows on the back of the home. The view was comforting, relaxing and really just perfect! It felt like we were sleeping outside! There are blinds if you choose to shut them. We liked sleeping under the stars. The back porch is awesome, just bring your own lawn chairs. The owner did a great job prepping for our stay. All the cabinets are labeled, super helpful! The kitchen is pretty much fully stocked. There is a closet full of toiletries. There are two kayaks to borrow along with life jackets & fishing gear. We took advantage of those! So fun! Thanks!!! Also there are instructions for everything! My wife loved that! The artwork was beautiful and personal. She also enjoyed the books and memorabilia around the entryway. Loved the updated shower restroom. Spa vibes! A few things we would fix or add: A few of the light fixtures were missing bulbs or not working. The sliding glass door needs to be fixed. It’s really hard to open and close. Add coffee mugs to the kitchen or bring disposable (there are two copper mugs but I prefer glass or paper mugs) We bought and left clothes hangers since there were none. Add folding or lounging chairs to the back porch Overall a GREAT house! Would stay again and highly recommend!
