We had a relaxing stay. The bed was firm and extremely comfortable. Plenty of spices, and the space was extremely clean. We hung out on the Lanai and occasionally would see a whale off in the distance. Great host communication and would definitely come back again. Be advised no TV, however you can stream using your laptop.

Awesome!!!! Even better than the listing says!! We loved our time here, and it was totally private. We watched whales from the couch, too. Just remember to close the screen door to keep the gnats out! :-)

Overall: The house is cute and in a very quiet area, listing pictures are accurate. Yes, the view is incredible!Disapointments: The listing says the black sand beach is a 19 minute walk away - not true. The road is closed going down to the beach (and it's a STEEP dirt road) so it's closed to the public; there was no TV (I didn't notice this in the listing, my bad); no curtains so it's quite bright at 6:30 am; check out requirements include taking out trash, washing dishes and beach towels (should be part of cleaning fee); no internet service once you leave the house as well as no cell service at all until you get into Waimea which is 30 minutes away; not close to dinner restaurants. Some of these disappointments would have been deal breakers for us.Pleased With: Kitchen is a good size (but a little outdated); very thankful to have bottled water, gatorade, coffee, etc. provided; beds and pillows are comfortable; good internet in the house; good communication with the property manager.BEWARE: We were given two addresses...the listing address starting with "44" is wrong in several places - GPS directed us down a very dangerous one-lane steep CLOSED to non-local traffic dirt road into the Waipio Valley. We were in a sedan and incredibly fortunate we made it back up the hill (locals told us that was nearly impossible, many people have had to abandon their cars). Only the address provided in the Arrival Information Driving Directions (starting with "48") is accurate.

Awesome tranquility and spectacular views

A beautiful location on the big island; peaceful and relaxing. Well decorated and comfortable furnishings. Kitchen is well supplied with cooking utensils, etc. All that you need for a great stay. Very responsive property manager. Well located to great places on the island for more active activities such as hiking, sight seeing, horseback riding. All in all a great find!

Heaven on earth

This property was exactly as listed if not better. Whale watching from the porch anytime of day; or lounging in the sun overlooking the ocean. The serenity of being immersed in nature ; from the birds, horses, frogs, geckos. The night sky was absolutely magnificent. And occasionally able to see the silhouette of Maui. Thats all, and then the actual views of the healing energy of Waipio Valley. I enjoyed having a little haven to go to after a day of sight seeing! The house was completely stocked with your every need, from beach chairs to towels and extra toiletries if you forgot them. I cried when I left because it was just so relaxing and peaceful. Highly recommend to anyone who likes the slower pace of life looking to get away.

Best Location on the Big Island

The cottage is in a mesmerizing location perched high on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The views are breathtaking and we saw humpback whales every day. The cottage itself is charming and with two comfortable kings bedrooms and a carefully curated eclectic decor. The kitchen could use some updates, but is perfectly adequate. Would return ina heartbeat!

Terrific cottage with stunning Ocean views

Amazing location. Stunning views over the water and Waipio Valley. Had a great time just looking at the water and watching whales in the waters below. Perfectly appointed cottage with all amenities. We had a truly wonderful stay and would come back for sure!
