Very nice, cozy & quiet, the cabin was clean, furnished well and we had everything we needed. Disappointed that shops and restaurants close by were mostly closed, only open Thursday - Sunday. We will plan better next time. A highlight was the wildlife, deer, turkey, including a visit from a black bear that strolled through the property. A great time, will definitely visit again.

Our stay here was wonderful and relaxing! The place was really clean and had everything we needed. Communication was very open and they checked in on us to make sure everything was going well.

Peaceful!

What a beautiful and peaceful stay we had in Hodag House! My family needed a get away and our stay was perfect. The cabin was super clean, had everything that we needed and had very comfortable beds so we slept great. The area is gorgeous and we got in plenty of hiking and kayaking. We will definitely be back!

Visit to Apostle Islands

This property was wonderful! Overlooking Lake Superior was divine and we could even hear the water! (There was a live camera available to watch of the lake too!!!) The hosts were great! Very responsive! Everything we needed and wanted!

Great place to stay!!

Wonderful location with so many amenities. Every detail was well thought out and much appreciated. Small perfect space with loads of character. We even did the 200 steps to the lake. Twice!

We had a wonderful vacation at Hodag House! There was so much to love! We enjoyed the fire pit and the trails to view the lake outside. While spending time indoors we loved playing board games, listening to the record player, watching the lake camera on the TV, and taking a very relaxing bath in the deep tub with the flicker of the candlelight setting on the lights. When we ventured out we stopped at Herbster, Cornucopia, and Meyers Beaches. We walked trails and saw waterfalls at Pattison State Park, Amnicon State Park, Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse State Park, and Houghton Nature Preserve. We white water rafter near Duluth, saw the aerial lift bridge, fished near Bayfield, and kayaked the sea caves. We mostly cooked in the Hodag House, but also enjoyed wonderful meals at Hoop's Dockside, Blue Wave Sandbar, and El Jefe Superior. In the evenings we enjoyed stopping in for ice cream cones at Elsie Blue General Store.It was absolutely a fantastic week to get away with the family for many adventures, beautiful sights, and plenty of R&R!! Thank you!One very minor downside was that most every drawer, cupboard, and shelf was already full, so it was tricky to find room for our groceries and personal belongings during our weeklong stay.

We had a lovely stay. The minor TV issue was resolved very quickly. Erin communicated with us during our stay as well. The house was absolutely ah-mazing. We were surrounded by the breath-taking views of the woods and the lake. Mission "recharge" was accomplished successfully :)

Clean, modern, and relaxing stay (5 out of 5 stars)!!

We loved the Hodag house! It was incredibly clean and modern with all the necessary amenities (they thought of everything). It's so cozy (perfect for relaxing), yet there is still plenty of space to explore (trails & steps leading to a great view of Lake Superior). It also has a great fire pit. Lastly, my wife and I ran into some car trouble with a very low tire, and the host of Hodag House went way out of her way to help out and make sure our problem was solved. We strongly recommend staying at the Hodag house!

Exactly what we were looking for

My husband and I loved the Hodag house. It was exactly what we were looking for. The location is really close to beautiful hikes. We Kayaked the sea caves. Bayfield is about 30 min away that we went to twice to take a ferry to Madaline Island and a boat tour of the islands. The surroundings are very secluded and quiet. The house is very modern, comfortable and clean. The kitchen has a wonderful gas stove and was stocked with all kinds of pots, pans, plates, silverware, glasses, bowls, spices. A lot of special details was put into the Hodag house. You will love the record player with old records to play while cooking supper. We turned on the tv to watch the live view of the lake. The lighting in the house was fun to figure out as they dim, brighten and change colors. The main bed was very comfortable, and the room has its own air conditioning which was nice on warm nights. We walked the 170 steps in back a few times as it has wonderful views going down. If ever back in this area we will definitely stay at the Hodag house again!!
