Welcome to the Bear Cave! Our comfy space will allow you to relax with the whole family and maybe see some wildlife! We're 5 minutes from Tannersville with plenty of dining and shopping options. We are just down the road from North South Lake and Kaaterskill Falls which boasts a magnificent waterfall and hiking trails, including the famous Rail Trail. The closest place to ski is Hunter Mountain, a 10-minute drive. We are also close to several golf courses. Stay for a weekend, a week, or longer!

Our home has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and sleeps 6 people. Bedroom #1 has a Queen bed and sleeps 2. Bedroom #2 has bunk beds: a Twin (sleeps 1, weight max 170 lbs.) over a Full Bed (sleeps 2). There is a chair/ottoman/pullout twin bed in the mudroom next to the fire place that can sleep one more. We have plenty of blankets throughout the house to help you stay warm and cozy. We have a full kitchen for cooking and a dining room for eating or working from home.

Self check-in starting at 3pm on day of arrival. Earlier access is available on a case-by-case basis, but not guaranteed, and must be agreed to in advance. To open the front door, you will be given a personal 4-digit code prior to arrival. You will also be given a code for the back door to the mudroom. These codes are changed after every guest’s visit.

Laundry room is available for guests staying 5 nights or longer.

There is enough space in our driveway for 3 vehicles. Reflectors in the parking area will help you avoid driving into the creek. Unfortunately, we cannot offer garage parking.

We are located in a wooded area of the Catskill Mountains. To help preserve the environment, please abide by the Carry In, Carry Out policy. Thanks for your cooperation.

There is so much to do and our home is located in the center of it all!
This is a home for all seasons, from fresh snowfall in the winter to fun in the sun during spring and summer. You can also watch the leaves change colors in the fall. Our location does not disappoint.

Our home is minutes from the stunning Mountain Top Arboretum which boats fantastic trails for all levels of hiking.

The home is conveniently located just 10 minutes from Hunter Mountain Ski Resort and just 20 minutes from Windham Mountain Ski Resort allowing you to maximize your winter fun!

Nearby are multiple golf courses including Rip Van Winkle Country Club (15 minutes away), Colonial Country Club (10 minutes away), and Windham Country Club (20 minutes away). Not a golfer? No problem! There is go-karting in Saugerties (15 minutes away) as well as the Catskill Animal Sanctuary. Colgate Lake is also just minutes away where you can enjoy a day of water activities like kayaking, paddle boarding or just some swimming. You will not be bored!

For all you craft beer lovers out there, we are also located just 10 minutes from Hunter Mountain Brewery and 15 minutes from Rip Van Winkle Brewery and West Kill Brewing.

There are security cameras on the exterior of the house so we can see the entire perimeter. There is one camera on the front of the house that catches a little bit of the kitchen window, but glare prevents it from seeing anything inside the kitchen. For peace of mind, close the curtain.

• The wifi is provided by Spectrum and it is just as reliable as it is in the city. We frequently work from the house with multiple laptops and other connected devices.
• Cell service can be limited in the Catskills so be sure to get directions, set your maps, etc before you leave the house.
• The television in the living room has RoKu. You can log into the apps with your own information. Be sure to log out of the apps before you checkout.
• The bunk bed room has a television, DVD player and an assortment of DVDs, but no streaming device.

There is no smoking allowed in the house. Smoking is permitted outside, but please use the ashtray provided. DO NOT discard cigarette butts, matches, or any other resulting litter on the grounds of the property.

You must take ALL GARBAGE with you when you leave. We do not have a garbage collection service and the bears have been breaking into our garbage shed on the side of the house. You can bring big garbage bags to the waste transfer station in Hunter. If you have a small enough bag (like a plastic grocery bag) you can drop it in one of the garbage bins at Stewart's, but be discreet about it.
