Staff were great. Disappointed that several pieces of equipment in the gym were broken, and it was crowded at times.

Music and noise all over. From the elevator to the lobby and outside. Very helpful stuff.

central location in Guatemala City

Pros: Clean, comfortable, convenient restaurant in hotel with friendly staff, good food and good service.
Cons: internet emergency services
Location: Dangerous to leave the hotel in the evening, anywhere in Guatemala City. I didn't explore daytime options due to work. Nice little gift shop in hote
Cleanliness, comfort and housekeeping were all good. Internet was problematic: didn't work in some locations; password was changed leaving conference presenter stranded with no internet options and no understanding of how to trouble-shoot; front-desk help was annoyed when I waited in line to ask for help, and acted as if I should have known the password would randomly change. Worst: someone unexpectedly because seriously ill before our meeting, and it took an hour to make the decision to take her to the hospital. Either a hotel should have a trained first-aid person available, or the person should be immediately transported to the hospital.

Friendliest staff you will ever find

I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past 4 or 5 years. I travel frequently to Guatemala City and this hotel has become almost a 2nd home for me. My last trip there was in May of 2009 and as usual it was a wonderful stay. The hotel has gone through a series of renovations and although the lobby area or bar area are small, the location is fantastic, wlaking istance to anything you want and it is trully in the heart of the "zona viva". The security at the hotel is exceptional and frankly, it suits my needs to a tee! Have nothing but the best to say about the staff and management at Holiday Inn Guatemala...My next trip is at the end of September 2009 and that is where I willbe.

Just Okay

Booked the Holiday Inn because I heard it was in a good location. It is. Hotel shows a lot of wear and tear. Unlike the US advertisements which promise no unhappy surprises, this property can provide unpleasant memories. It needs to be cleaner. Desk staff are at times less than helpful. Public areas seem drab.

my stay at the holiday inn

i was very happy with my stay at the hotel. the evening of my arrival a nice gentleman who worked there helped me email my brother back home to let him know i arrived safely. i was able to walk to the zoo and shopping nearby. they had clark tours in the lobby to visit different sites who has a great tour guide named samuel on the trip to antigua. my first trip out of country was great. i hope to return in a few years.

Great Location

Great location, close to shops and restaurants. Staff was very helpful. Loby area and bar area very small, butdidnt spend alot of time there. We had a small child along and staff was very accomidating.

Big Improvement

There was a vast improvement over my last visit in December 05.They made sure I got an upgraded rrom and that the high speed interent access was working.The breakfast buffet was tasty and had a good variety of foods to choose from.
