Wonderful modern and efficient design of room. Attentive staff. Lively neighborhood made for a noisy night, which was a problem only because we were leaving on a ferry early the next morning. Otherwise it was an enjoyable area

Clean and cozy room with a comfy bed and a spacious toilet. Very conveniently located in the Latin Quarter just a short walk from Eyre Square and Ceannt Station. You step from the door into the center of Galway’s vibrant nightlife with shops, restaurants, and pubs (replete with live traditional music) immediately outside. It’s the first hotel I’ve seen that offered earplugs along with a hair dryer (perhaps because the walls and ceiling readily transmit sound) but I had no problem falling asleep. The staff is friendly and willing to offer useful advice.

Great location

We stayed two nights in the Snug Townhouse - which was conveniently situated right on Quay Street so close to lots of bars and restaurants as well as take out options. Staff at check in and out were friendly and polite and able to offer advice on places for dinner. Room was well appointed - bathroom was big enough for two. The only issue we had was the bed. It was on a shelf effectively so you had to climb over each other to get on/off and the mattress was incredibly soft - so soft it was uncomfortable. As we were only there for two nights we got on with it but I wouldn’t have been able to do more. It was also a bit noisy being directly opposite The Quays - which is one of the later opening bars. That said, there were ear plugs supplied by the hotel so you could you use them if you needed.

There are three reasons to stay at the Snug Townhouse--location, location, location. And if you get a room in the back it is incredibly quiet. But not in the front, as other reviewers will attest to. If you are traveling by yourself, it might be okay. But for two, it is nearly unworkable. The queen size bed is shoved into a corner with no way out except for the inside person climbing over the outside person. Suitcases must be kept under the bed. There are several small shelves on which to put things, but one shelf has plugs and is taken up by the hot water pot. We never could find a plug in the bathroom (which is huge relative to the room). There is one small hook in the bathroom, not big enough for your wet towels. The plugs in the headboard stick out enough that one could hit one's head on them. There are no tissues provided or even spoons if you want to make a cup of tea. No glasses, just two mugs. The only reason to stay here is the neighborhood is fantastic--restaurants, bars, nightlife everywhere and you can walk to everywhere in Galway. At $150 per night, I wouldn't even be writing this review. But at $250? Ridiculously expensive for the amenities provided.

Nice Room, But Be Warned About the Noise We stayed at The Snug on Quay Street and were impressed with the room itself—small, but very well appointed and comfortable. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Galway and close to everything you’d want to see or do. However, what we didn’t fully appreciate until we experienced it firsthand is just how loud it gets at night. The hotel is directly across the street from The Quays Bar, and on Saturday night the live music plays until 2:00 AM, with crowds lingering and shouting well past 2:30 AM. The hotel does provide earplugs, but they did very little to help—we were awake until nearly 3 AM. Also worth noting: there’s no elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage up two or three flights of stairs. Overall, while the room and location are great, the noise level was a major downside. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you’re planning to be out as late as the bar patrons—or can sleep through anything.

I’m baffled how this hotel had so many stars and positive reviews. The only thing I can guess is I had an even smaller room? The location was fantastic and the front desk was very helpful. However, “snug” is not the right word to describe the room - there was a tiny walkway to the bed that you could barely turn around in let alone put anything in. This room mashed every hotel I’ve had in NYC look big. And the bed wasn’t very comfortable. It was also very hot.

Super cute property. Very nice staff. Modern. It is SNUG in the room but clean and excellent. A/C was nice at night. Bed was super comfy, as were the pillows. Loved it.

The location is great, though it can be loud but that was expected. We knew there wasn't parking at the hotel but wasn't aware the hotel was on a pedestrian street. It caused some stress but was ok.

What people should know is that you are definitely right in the middle of all the action of Galway. Right outside our window was the Quay bar that had loud music with a thumping bass that continued until about 2:30am. It is a great place to be if you want to be up and partying and then crawl back to your room but not if you plan to try to sleep before 3am. I should have done more research on that part for sure. We had two nights booked and had to move to another hotel for the second night as we would not be able to deal with the noise the second night having to be up very early. I tried to go through Expedia to assist me with modifying my reservation but they said they contacted the hotel to help me cancel the second night and get refunded but the hotel told me they did not have any correspondence from Expedia. We checked out after the first night and then I sent an email to the hotel explaining the situation hoping they would refund me the second night due to the noise abd since we did not stay and checked out prior to the checkout time but I have not heard back at this point and probably will not. Live and learn.

The room wasn't much bigger than a closet, but for one night it was fine. Our room overlooked Quay Street, but the noise was not a problem. The only real problem was that the Window shade was about one foot short.

Very small room, but great location

Fabulous location! Was very clean and was able to check in early, which was nice. The room was exceptionally small, like basically a bed and room to open the door and that was it. We also had an issue one night with air conditioning going off and it got insanely hot as we were on the top floor. We are used to small hotel rooms as we travel a lot in Europe, but this was by far the smallest. Not a problem unless you are a bigger person or need more space to move around. We would stay here again just ask for a larger room.

Snuggled up in Galway

Just as the name describes, the hotel room is quite snug. It’s nuzzled in between a small convenience store and burger joint. The location itself, was spectacular. Everything you could possibly want was within walking distance of the hotel. With this being said, you are right in the heart of the downtown bar scene with everything that entails. Which may be someone hosting a drum solo outside your window at 2AM or drunken patrons loudly singing whilst walking back to their own “snug” hotel room. If we were to visit again I think we might opt for a slightly larger hotel room off of the main strip. All that being said, we very much enjoyed our stay and I think it was a great way to experience Galway.
