DO NOT STAY HERE.I booked this property on VRBO for a month but left without spending a single night because of serious safety concerns.When I arrived, the area and complex immediately felt unsafe. After doing more research, I learned the apartments have changed management, and the neighborhood crime rate is extremely high (multiple reviews mention police presence and even shootings in the parking lot). As a woman who grew up in a city with significant gang violence, I've learned to trust my instincts, and everything about this situation raised concerns. The exterior door was dry-rotting, and the atmosphere made me feel vulnerable.Inside, the photos mostly match the furnishings shown online, but they don’t show the mildew smell on entry, the mold in the closet, or the dead roaches I found. Having previously dealt with an apartment mold issue, I know how hard that is to fix; if that had been the only issue I could have coped, but combined with the safety concerns, it was too much.I contacted VRBO immediately. The host’s responses felt automated, and VRBO required me to return for photos even though I didn’t feel safe. I complied and sent them in, but my case was closed without a refund so far.My only goal in writing this is to warn other travelers: please do your homework on the property’s actual location and reviews before booking. If you’re in a time crunch like I was, a hotel is a far safer bet than this rental.
