First glance the 7 Gables Inn & Suites looks inviting. I personally look for good deals along with accessibility and comfort in mind. When we arrived to the Inn we were instantly disappointed. The facility itself was " clean " to the standards of a personal dwelling but not that of a facility meant to house visitors, owner was not inviting at all which made my wife and I very uncomfortable. The room itself was not large enough to house two people and their luggage, which made it nearly impossible to move around. My wife and I tried to look at the positive side but ultimately the negatives were outweighing the positives by a landslide so we decided to book another room at a nearby hotel. This is just our personal experience with the 7 Gables, if you are used to staying in places such as this, perhaps it is suitable. We are a young couple that are accustomed to the normal adminities of a hotel. I would not recommend the 7 Gables Inn & Suites.

I am sorry that you did not have a good experience. I wish we had known you were not comfortable with the room provided so we might have been able to upgrade you to a bigger room.

Description and picture not representative.

Pros: Nothing that would cause me to return.
She asked if I wanted breakfast, I said sure what time ...7 am was ok. Not provided on any of the mornings I was there. Was asked one other time by the "Mr," who was having his own breakfast, I declined. It just seemed to be an inconvenience Coffee was k-cups and was fine.

I'm not sure where you were looking for breakfast, but breakfast is served daily from 7-9 in the dining room upstairs. It sounds like you were looking for in the guest kitchen. I'm sorry that you missed the location. I apologize that we didn't point out the breakfast buffet.

Very quiet and nice

Pros: Rustic, quiet, nice breakfast
Cons: Make it easier to find your room the first time, but that is part of its charm.
Location: Out of the way and quiet, but just a few miles from museums, downtown, the airport, etc.
Finding your way around the hotel is difficult at first, but the manager could see I was confused and came running out at midnight to help me. Then I found my room quickly. Very homey and rustic, just what I would want in Alaska. They have a very good breakfast program, one morning we had individual quiches, and another morning fresh eggs benedict. Plus you can make your own waffles, decorate them with fruit or whipped cream or anything you want, fresh bagels with cream cheese or whatever you want, orange juice, coffee, anything you might reasonably want for breakfast outside of some Hyatt or Marriott hotel which would cost many times more. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. The hotel itself is about ten minutes from the airport, and down a very quiet sidestreet. Which makes it a bit difficult to find the first time, but keeps things very quiet after that. Strongly recommended for those who like rustic and comfortable.

Homey place

Pros: Warm, homey feeling. Bedroom had attached bath, which we were not sure we would have. Great breakfast and lots of sights to visit close by.
Cons: Bigger sign for hotel office and notice of where breakfast room was the night before, when you registered. It looked like another guest room.
Location: Dredge 8 Gold Mine / panning, Riverboat, Salmon Bake, Pioneer Village, North Pole, Ride bikes along the river.
We were given a main floor (up 1/2 flight) room. At first we were not sure we should just walk in to the main part of the house, and the manager was initially a man of few words, so it took us a minute to figure out where to go and what to do. Once registered, he was helpful in giving us a map of the area, key points to visit and recommendations for viewing the Northern Lights. His wife was kind and bubbly. She is the one who steered us to the breakfast room in the morning.

A great deal, bed and breakfast

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
Cons: 3rd floor stairs
During the spring 2012 off season, I stayed in an Abbey apt in the annex. It was on the 3rd floor; a long set of stairs if you have a lot of luggage. The unit was exceptionally well priced for the amenities. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was more than I expected and not your typical pile of danish and cereal.

This place was horrible, Its a Bed and Breakfast at best. rooms are very stuffy and uncomfortable. Wife said bathroom was despratly in need of a good cleaning, towels looked to have stains on them. No AC, only climate control was a rinky dink fan. TV located in closet. Jacuzzi was a whirpool tub for 1. Highly unacceptable.
