Very bad attitude on the part of most Basin Park Hotel employees we encountered. The guy who checked us in was friendly, but no one else there seems to have a clue about hospitality. Plumbing was shut off without notice in the morning. We asked if we could have some water for tooth brushing; they said “Sure” and then CHARGED US FOR IT. We. requested and were promised a small discount since we couldn’t shower, which didn’t appear on our bill. When I brought that to their attention they said there “was nothing we can do.” Rude, unfriendly, and in the end, dishonest management and most staff. Room was shabby at best. Will not stay there again.

It's the second time we have stayed at this hotel. It's close to everything. Love that they have a shuttle service that is included. Free parking. Great staff. Historic property. We will come back!

Historic hotel (means old)

Pros: The location
Cons: Doubt anything can be improved, (it is what it is in this case)
Location: Good location for the downtown historic district, can walk or use trolley
Hotel was in a good location, however the parking lot for this hotel was not. Also, this is not a roomy hotel room, and certainly not a room with modern conveniences. It is what I would call adequate at best.

The jacuzzi made the trip!

The bed was on the hard side and the elevator moves really slow (it is an old, old building though) other than that I loved staying here.

Best Hotel in Eureka!

Pros: The price was unbelievably cheap. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was clean, from the foyer, hallway, stairs, and rooms.
Cons: I can honestly not think of anything that needs improvement.
Location: The location is perfect! 6 miles from the wildlife refuge, a mile from the shops in Historic Eureka Springs.
My husband and I just spent two nights at the Colonial Inn and loved it! The owner was very friendly, and the hotel was extremely clean. The foyer is beautiful, and the staircase was the perfect place to take a couple of photos before a night on the town (with the help of the staff). Our experience was amazing, and this hotel is definitely the best we've stayed in while visiting Eureka. And yes, this includes stays at the two large "haunted" hotels. The sign outside says Peaceful & Pristine. I have never seen a truer statement on a hotel marquee.

Service fee for 'exceptional service' - really???

Cons: Poor breakfast, questional billing tactics, unfriendly staff
My wife and I booked a last minute weekend getaway at the Basin Park a few weeks ago. We booked one of the more expensive rooms on the first floor as ‘it was the last room they had available’. The room was decent and had a nice view of the park. I cannot say the same of the staff. Upon arrival and checkout, no offer to assist us with our bags was extended. During our stay, no employee engaged us whatsoever to insure all of our needs were being met, our stay was being pleasurable, if there was anything they could do for us, or if we needed a courtesy ride to the hotel parking lot several blocks away. When checking out, two employees stood outside the lobby door smoking while I carried our bags to the car. The employees did not give their inaction a second thought. Upon checkout, I noted an extra fee labeled ‘service fee’ on our bill. When questioned, the desk clerk stated it was ‘a tax’. As there was already an amount labeled as tax on the bill, we questioned it but departed. Upon arrival at our residence, we reviewed the bill further. We learned this ‘service fee’ was just that, a fee for ‘exceptional service’. The explanation provided on the bill was the fee was for the hotel to be able to retain exceptional staff. Reviewing the manner in which my wife and I were treated by the ‘exceptional’ staff, I believe this is at best a risky and ill-advised tactic to increase revenue. Considering I did not receive ‘exceptional service’. I contacted the Basin Park explaining my wife and I did not receive anything close to exceptional service and requested this fee be refunded. After several weeks, I have yet to receive a response. I have no issues whatsoever paying for exceptional service. This is not applicable in this case.
