"The only word I can think of to describe this property and its owner is "skanky". It had an overpowering odor of tobacco mixed with incredibly strong cleaning (maybe bleach) solution that was being used to try and mask the smoke odor. The owner was a strange old guy, who, when asked about a range of issues was utterly unhelpful. I, along with two other groups of incoming guests waited outside in below zero weather. There was a sign at the front door saying "Our Front desk is closed. Please call xxx-xxx-xxxx" We did, told him we were out front, and he said "OK I'll be here."(Language barrier issue) We all waited 10 minutes more outside and called again. I was clearer this time: "Are you coming to open the door and let us in?" When he replied "Oh, I'm here, the door is unlocked"....I knew we were in trouble. Upon entering and being hit in the face wtih this incredible smell, we also discovered that the place overall was bleak, at best, and dirty. The carpet was stained, and the bathtub had black mold around the edges, and the tub spout had been "Fixed" using a string to hold it up, having fallen off. There was only one queen room, and it has been assigned to me (a solo traveller). Of the remaining 6 rooms, all twin bedded, one was to be for another couple who had been waiting outside with me. I offered to trade them so they could have the double bed. Both rooms were equally awful. So clearly, asking to change rooms would not have helped. Worse than Motel 6. Go elsewhere!"
