    Cozy Hotel nearby Stansted

    This hotel is in a very old (1500's) manor house but doesnt show except in good ways. The grounds are nice and surrounded by countryside. Very Very quiet. The food was good, service was adequate. The room was large, modern, clean, and well-appointed. Only drawback is that it is a few miles from Stansted. Stay here if you want a good overnight English countryside experience for a flight in the morning.

    Whitehall Hotel - a hidden gem

    The pictures on the website do not do justice to this delightful hotel. The atmosphere and friendliness of the staff more than outweighed its negative points (on the Stansted flightpath, poor TV reception, a leaking shower head). The restaurant is superb and reasonably priced in a timber-framed hall with a vaulted ceiling. i would definitely stay here again.

    Hotel Fine - Restaurant Awful

    The Whitehall Hotel is in a wonderful location, the rooms are acceptable and the check in / out staff were welcomingand knowledgeable. Avoid the restaurant at all costs, the food is truly awful and way overpriced.

    You get exactly what you would expect at an old elizabethan manor house hotel. Loads of old world charm some in need of tlc! The 3 course meal at £26 was lovely but don't expect too much from the Bar!! Excellent service and attention and a lovely clean room for the night.

    The Whitehall Hotelli lähellä Stanstedin kenttää

    Noin kymmenen minuutin kiharaisen ajomatkan päässä Stanstedin lentokentästä sijaitseva viehättävän rustiikkinen pikkuhotelli kauniissa maaseutumiljöössä. Perinteinen rakennus, jonka valkoisia olki-laastiseiniä tummat hirret tukevat. Käytävien kokolattiamatoilla peitetyt lankkulattiat natisevat ja notkuvat jalkojen alla ja viettävät milloin mihinkin suuntaan Yksikään seinä ei taida olla aivan suora eivätkä nurkat tarkasti suorassa kulmassa. Hotelli sopii siis romantikoille ja vanhasta englantilaisesta maaseudusta pitäville. Hotellilla on kaunis puutarha muotoon leikattuine puineen ja pensaineen sekä hoidettuine nurmikoineen. Taisimme olla vierailumme aikaan ainoat vieraat, jotka eivät kuuluneet paikalla järjestettyjen hääjuhlien vieraskatraaseen. Juhlatilaisuus oli varsinaisen hotellirakennuksen ja maantien välissä olevassa erillisessä rakennuksessa. Vaikka juhlissa soitti aito orkesteri melko kovalla voimakkuudella ja vieraita oli yli sata, ei huoneeseemme päärakennuksen puutarhan puoleiseen osaan kuulunut lainkaan meteliä tai muuta häiriötä. Vaikka juhla rasitti pienehköä henkilökuntaa melkoisesti ja vielä samaan aikaan Englanti pelasi jalkapallon mm-kisojen avausotteluaan, meitä palveltiin erinomaisesti. Vastaanotossa saapumiseemme oli varauduttu ja muodollisuudet sujuivat nopeasti. Baari oli auki ja ravintolan puolella meille tarjoiltiin haluamaamme aikaan erinomainen päivällinen A la carte-listalta. Listalta löytyi vaihtoehtoja myös niille, jotka eivät syö lihaa ja keittiö otti vastaan erityistoiveita. Aamiaiseen emme päässeet tutustumaan, sillä lentomme varhaisuudesta johtuen jouduimme lähtemään hotellilta jo ennen aamukuutta. Ajallisesti matkaa Stanstedin kentälle on n. kymmenen minuuttia. Reitti on kuitenkin melko mutkikas, joten itse ajaville suosittelen gps-navigaattorin tai erittäin hyvän paperikartan käyttöä. Kaiken kaikkiaan melko hauska ja viihtyisä hotelli. Ei sovellu kuitenkaan klubbailijoille tai muille urbaaneille bilettäjille, eikä lähistöltä juuri löydy kävellen saavutettavia palveluita. Myös steriilin skandinaavisen muotoilun ja arkkitehtuurin ystävät viihtynevät muualla paremmin. Meille tämä hotelli oli mieluisa päätös 800 mailin Britannian kierrokselle.

    Whitehall close to Stansted

    I think the hotel is an OK alternativ if you have a rental car and GPS navigation. I belive the rest is said by the other guests replies. The info that the full english breakfast was a 14 GBP per person extra cost could have been a little clearer. Very relaxing when you had a few hours too much waiting for the flight. I loved the countryside and the atmosphere.

    Landelig beliggende hotell

    Jeg fikk desverre ikke opplevd hotellet i dagslys, da det så veldig idyllisk ut, langt ut på landsbygda, men hadde et stort og trivelig rom. Måtte vente 1,5 t på taxi fra Elsenham togstasjon, var kjedelig.

    Whitehall Hotel - Stansted

    Hvis du ønsker et opphold på landsbygda er dette midt i blinken. Det tar imidlertid 15 - 20 min å kjøre fra Stansted flyplass og det var svært vanskelig å finne frem på kronglete småveier. Et gammelt hotell med mye sjarm og historikk, men med dårlig vedlikehold.
