Mereweather Estate Cottage — Mount Sturgeon views, Dunkeld

Mount Sturgeon fills the windows from the moment you enter. The cottage sits on the brow of a hill at the southern end of the Grampians, with nothing between you and the mountain. It's a view you can sit with for hours. The light moves slowly across the rock, clouds drift over the peaks, and without noticing, you've slowed down too. Settle on the deck and let the mountain relax you. Dunkeld's cafes and the Royal Mail Hotel are a 10-minute walk away.

Big picture windows face the mountains from the lounge, the main bedroom and the deck. Queen bed in the main bedroom, two singles in the second. Full kitchen, laundry, bathroom with shower and a separate toilet. Reverse-cycle heating and cooling in every room, plus a wood fire. Fast Wi-Fi.

The whole cottage is yours, fully self-contained, with 20 acres to wander.

The Mount Sturgeon summit walk starts about 4 km away, and the Grampians Peaks Trail finishes in Dunkeld. The general store in town stocks local wines and treats, and there's an electric car charger in Wills Street.

A Magical Wildlife Getaway in the GrampiansAmazing, amazing, amazing! This cottage gave us one of the most memorable stays we've ever had. A wallaby wandered right onto the property and had a drink from the birdbath only metres from where we were sitting on the deckng—an absolutely breathtaking moment.As the evening settled in, we watched cockatoos gather in the nearby trees, getting ready for the night. The views of the mountains changing colour at sunset (and again at sunrise!) were simply stunning. It felt like nature put on a private show just for us.The Easter eggs left for us were such a thoughtful touch, and the cottage itself was incredibly comfortable and relaxing—exactly what you hope for in a peaceful escape.A truly special spot.
