Over charged!
Unfortunately when we tried to check in, there seemed to be trouble with the booking and they insisted I paid for the full room rate £147.90, but when I showed them the booking confirmation from yourselves that there was only a balance of £53.24 to pay, they couldn't understand it and there system also was giving problems.
After a long wait (45 minutes) they eventually took payment of £53.24.
But when I got to the room I then received notification from my bank that another £94.66 had been charged without my authorisation totaling the £147.90 they ask for at the start. I also received notification that the card saved with Hotels.com had also been charged £53.24
I went straight back to reception to ask for an explanation as to why they can take money without my authorisation and why anything had to be paid to start with, they said "the amount was being held as a deposit" which is the first time this was said to me and I've never had to do this before with any booking with yourselves in the past.
They informed me it would be returned within 5 days, but I was on a budget and had already budgeted for this money for fuel back to Inverness and food for my family, but there was nothing that could be done as it had already been charged.
Needless to say I was not very happy.
