Flights To Phnom Penh

As a city filled with French-built architecture, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, was once called "the Pearl of Asia." It contained no shortage of beautiful buildings—until the despotic Khmer Rouge regime started shelling them during the 1970s. But even though such atrocities might've taken off some of the city's sheen, travelers on Phnom Penh flights will find the area still has a surfeit of worthy sights. From regal palaces and Olympic-sized stadiums to museums chronicling genocide and the famous killing fields, the city is a study in contrasts from the moment you step out of Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH).

Transportation From PNH

Traveling the six or so miles from Phnom Penh International Airport to the city itself may seem like a challenging task at first, especially given the crowds of men who start shouting at passengers straight from flights to Phnom Penh as soon as they exit the terminal. It doesn't have to be, though. At the curbside of the arrivals area, you'll find a line of official cabs charging flat fees for city trips. The adventurous can ride on moto taxis (small, two-seat scooters), or if you want the full sightseeing experience, charter a tuk tuk (an open-air, motorcycle-pulled carriage). After you check in to your room at one of the hotels in Phnom Penh, head out to sample the local food. Restaurants offering bai sach chrouk (pork and rice), fish amok (a kind of curried fish mousse), red curry, and ang dtray-meuk (grilled squid) abound. From there, you can see the Silver Pagoda worship site, visit the Russian Market, or catch a little well-deserved shut-eye.
