Delta Airlines you are the best. Keep up your good work

Jan 16, 2020

I haven’t flown with Delta since I was a little girl but I have to tell you something. The flight attendants, service, pilots, and food were impeccable. I was completely impressed by the staff and their ability to help everyone on the 14 1/2 hr flight. I have never had service like this before. It was an absolutely amazing experience. Fly Delta!

Meals are tasty, but a little small, maybe to add one or two sides or salads would help

Which airlines fly to Johannesburg?

You'll find an exceptional range of air carriers that advertise flights to Johannesburg — 29 to be specific. Some of the best include:

  • Japan Transocean Air

What airport is best to fly into Johannesburg?

With two airports, you've got options when jetting into Johannesburg. Bear in mind where you'll be staying and spending most of your time, as this may help you decide on which flights you choose. Johannesburg Airport (JNB-O.R. Tambo Intl.) is 12 miles (20 kilometers) from where all the action is downtown, while Johannesburg Airport (HLA-Lanseria) is 19 miles (30 kilometers) away.

How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Johannesburg

Make your trip to Johannesburg that little bit easier by reading over these practical security tips:

  • Be sure you know the whereabouts of your boarding pass and passport. You don't want to hold up the queue when you're asked to hand them over.
  • You'll have to stop the music for a short while. Earphones and headphones need to be removed and placed in a tray for X-raying. The same applies to items such as heavy jackets and belts.
  • Ensure your phone, laptop and other electronic devices are within reach. These items need to be sent through the X-ray machine in separate tubs.
  • Flying with a new perfume or cologne? As long as it's not bigger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and it's placed in a clear resealable plastic bag, you can keep it in your carry-on luggage.
  • Steel-cap footwear and other bulky shoes tend to be X-rayed at the security checkpoint. It might be wise to wear simple sneakers instead.
  • The list of prohibited items is forever updating. Have a look at your airline's website to understand what is not allowed on board their aircraft.

Flights To Johannesburg

Catch one of the Johannesburg flights to visit this large bustling South African metropolis. O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) is your introduction to a modern city that is well within reach of outstanding wild animal game reserves.

Transportation from JNB

Once you've disembarked from your flight to Johannesburg at O.R. Tambo International Airport, travel to your chosen accommodation by taxi or shuttle service. Follow the icon signs to the public transport terminus, where you can board one of the accredited vehicles. A number of Johannesburg hotels are located in the area around the airport, and most of them provide shuttle services for the convenience of travelers. If you need to get further afield, take the Gautrain from the airport. This rapid rail system runs to Marlboro and Sandton, where you can take connecting commuter trains. International and local car rental companies are represented at the airport, so it's a simple matter to collect your hire car if this is your preferred mode of transport. Once you're settled, visit the Apartheid Museum for a poignant view of the system of separateness that dogged the country for nearly 50 years. Absorb the artistic culture of sub-Saharan Africa at the Wits Art Museum, and have fun on theme park rides and in true-to-life historical exhibits at Gold Reef City, which celebrates the gold rush of the 1880s. If one of your goals is to view some of the intriguing wild animals of South Africa, take a trip from Johannesburg to Pilanesberg Game Reserve (2.5 hours) or Dinokeng Game Reserve (1.5 hours); both reserves offer luxury lodge accommodation.
