Flight Review

Feb 15, 2020

The seats were awfully close together. On the long flight, the lady in front reclined her seat so,far, she was practically in my lap. Very uncomfortable for 8 1/2 hours. I thought I paid for extra leg room.

The Marski by Scandic or the Solo Sokos Hotel Torni Helsinki should suit those travelers yearning for exemplary service and soft, high thread-count sheets. However, if you don't think you'll see much of your room, why not try a cheaper option like the Hostel Diana Park or the Kongressikoti Hotel?

How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Helsinki

Your journey to Helsinki begins as soon as you've finished the security checks. Here are some helpful tips and hints to help you get through quickly:

  • Make sure you know the location of your boarding pass and passport. You don't want to hold up the line when you're asked to present them.
  • Keep in mind that belts with metal buckles can set off the body scanner's alarms. If you have one on, you may be asked to step back and take it off before proceeding.
  • Ensure your laptop, phone and other electronic devices are easily accessible. These items need to be sent through the X-ray machine separately.
  • When you approach the security checkpoint, you'll be asked to put all gels, liquids and creams in a separate bin for inspection. Make sure they're all in containers smaller than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and sealed in a clear zip-lock bag.
  • Untie your shoelaces before approaching the body scanner. Depending on the style of shoes you've got on, security may instruct you to take them off.
  • The list of non-permissible items is forever changing. Read over your carrier's website to find out what is not allowed on board their flights.
