I only booked this hotel because I needed a place to stay after checking out of my Airbnb since it had an early morning checkout and my flight didn't leave until 9:00 PM. I figured I'd just walk the CBD for an hour then come back to the room to rest before catching my flight. Upon arrival, I asked the guy at the front desk the address because my Uber driver wasn't sure he had dropped us off at the correct location. Instead of providing me with the address, he asked me what address I was looking for. I told him that I just needed to know the address. Not in a very pleasant manner, he continued to question me! Strike one! Upon checking out of the hotel, the lady at the front desk called someone via walkie-talkie to check my room while I stood there. She literally had me stand there while they checked the room, as if I was walking away with a television or had left a dead body in there! I asked if this was normal because I had never endured such upon checking out of a hotel. She lied yes. After receiving a report all was well, she then took my room key. I have NEVER in my life been treated like a wanted suspect at a hotel! These people need better training! They work in hospitality, but were not very hospitable AT ALL!!! I don't know if I was treated this way because of the color of my skin or what, but I will NEVER book another room at this hotel. I will also tell everyone I know to NEVER book a room at this hotel. UNACCEPTABLE and they should both be better trained or fired!!!

Big manager knocked at my door every time I used the minibar. I don't think they can do this with every customer. Truly absurd given how trivial the minibar amounts were and given the thousands of dollars I had spent at the hotel, I found this behavior Pathetic.

Horrible, greedy hotel

Staying at this hotel is an extremely unpleasant experience. Their business model seems to be charging a large deposit (300R per night, payable in advance) and then looking for reasons to keep it. The desk staff are more like bouncers, and I have heard horror stories of people being locked in the reception area facing demands for money. They did not find an excuse to keep my deposit, but you still get constantly held up whilst they perform various 'checks' to try to find things to charge you for, and then you have to wait multiple days for them to return the deposit to your card (even though they force you to pay in full before accessing your room). The rooms are also old and bad. It's just a terrible, rotten place which stinks of criminality and, as you can see by its recent reviews on various platforms, is going down the toilet fast. Please don't stay there and just allow it to go bankrupt quietly.

My second stay in this hotel - once again I found the room and facilities to be excellent supported by lovely staff. One minor suggestion: the TV in the room is tiny and located 7m from the bed. A larger format screen would be appreciated.
