The beaches are public so we got hustled every day to buy something and all the couples at the resort wanted to be friends and talk to us. But the water was super clear and food/drinks were great!

Nice hotel close to beach ,great food and fun

Pros: Friendly staff special shout outs to Lisa and Neville he always make our stay fun and enjoyable.
Cons: Well the room smelled stale not as fresh as usual. Other than that ,we enjoyed the grounds ,the chill out areas to lay back and have a drink .
Location: Right next to the beach, we don't venture off the resort we work hard so while on vacation we just relax, but they do offer Catamaran rides and tours.
We were there AUGUST 2018 for vacation and a wedding, big up to the Manager Filius, server on the beach Kachel , Monica the Wedding planner handled all my family's wants and needs at the wedding on 8/18/18. The food is always top notch at the Sandals Resorts. You never experience that over crowding lounge chair hoarding like other resorts. My husband Robert and I love vacationing at The Sandals Grande in St. Lucia.

One of the best on the island

Pros: Beach and luxurious gardens and surroundings kept immaculately clean and groomed.
Cons: Attitude of some staff-not all, but enough to leave an impression with us that maybe they didn't like their jobs
Location: Beautiful beach, white sand and crystal clear water. Beautiful sunsets. Lots of water sports.
The VERY long van ride (provided free by Sandals) was worth every minute. Definitely the best of the Sandals resorts on the island and likely one of the top resorts out of all on the island considering everything it offered. The food was great and the variety of restaurants will keep even the pickiest eaters happy. The drinks were not watered down and very generous. The beach, pools and facilities were beautiful. The only negative was the almost rude and certainly unhappy attitude from SOME of the staff (mainly waitresses), but certainly not all of them. The front desk, drivers, excursion group and bartenders were all fantastic-so we didn't let 4-5 negative people taint the 20 or so that we found to be very gracious. Overall, this place can't be beat and we will be back.

50/50

Cons: No free Internet, rude staff/poor customer service
I was extremely impressed with our room, which was spacious with a huge, comfortable bed and a big bathroom, plus a great little fridge that was stocked when we arrived. We were offered room service when we arrived since we got in around 1:00am. The food was decent, but very small portions. We were told at one restaurant that we could order multiple portions if it wasn't enough for us, but my husband was looked at as if he had three heads when he asked for two plates. I have been to many all-inclusives and I can say that this resort offered the poorest customer service of them all. A server came around maybe once a morning to take drink orders at the pool. At the restaurants, it took a good 5-10 minutes for someone with a sour expression and zero personality to come attend you, and when they did come and you wanted to order food, you were told "I'm only taking drink orders now." Staff in the lobby were very friendly but in the restaurants were very poor - I attribute this to the fact that they're not allowed to accept tips. Our friends were married here and the wedding and reception were beautiful. Had I not been to other resorts where customer service was at least average if nto stellar, I might be able to say that I recommend this resort. As it is, I spent about five times more here for four days than I spend for longer vacations at other resorts and it just wasn't worth it. Also, I checked in online five days prior to our departure for St. Lucia and received confirmation of my check in a week after arriving home. They sent our departure information to our rooms with the wrong flight and flight time. When we called to ask them to correct it, they said they would send another copy to our room - never got it. When we went to the lobby to request it again, they again gave us the wrong flight time and pickup information. Oh, and the internet is pretty pricey considering the connection is so poor that you can't even load e-mails.

Beautiful Island and resort setting. Average rooms and food. Get up early if you want a chair at the main pool!

Pros: lots to do, wonderful staff
Cons: No free Internet
Once you get over the 2 hour bus ride to the Grande from Hewanorra the resort is a welcome sight. We were disappointed with our room after paying a premium, we figured it would be nicer than it was. The furniture (couch, rugs) were dirty and needed a good cleaning. The staff at the Grande made the trip though. Everyone was friendly and eager to help when asked. We especially loved Peter at the bar and Shirvonne at the spa. If you want a chair at the pool, you either need to have the butler service, or you need to get up at 6:45 to claim your spot. This was kind of a bummer since we always felt like we were on the lookout for a chair. The food was good but nothing extraordinary. Barefoot by the Sea had wonderful dinner and Tuscanini's for breakfast were our favorites. The view from Fort Rodney is amazing and the speedboat tour with Brad Pitt was the best!! We loved St Lucia and will go back.

NOT BAD, NOT GREAT

Cons: No free Internet, located decent spots on the beach or at the pool
Ok where to start...i will preface this review by stating that i travel often. Guess i am lucky enough to have the means to take three to five weeks a year and go away..Im also from New York and could be a harsh critic...WE stayed in this hotel for one week during feb. We had stayed in sandals antigua last feb, and at that time i swore i would never go to a sandals again...But, i was talked into this trip and capitualted....I was very pleasantly supprised how we were ushered into a conceirge room, and given personal assistance, which included dinner res. I found most of the staff to bend over backward to be polite and cater to my needs...The food is pretty much what i expected at an all inclusive. Not great but not terrible. There was almost always something to do. At night they had live music til about ten or so. If you are truly into night life they have a club which starts at 11pm til the wee hours..Something i did not utilize...We knew having been to sandals before that it would be wise to get up very early and reserve our spot at the pool or beach...I am not a fan of having to do this since im on vacation and do not want to get up at the crack of dawn...But we took turns and it was not terrible...The place was kept very clean, and so was our room. The bathrooms are in dire need of makeovers, and they tell us its in the works....MY ocean view was actually obstructed by trees, so it was not a true ocean view..But to be honest it was nice sitting on our patio sipping wine and listening to the waves crash on shore...The bottom line...it asks above if i would reccomend this hotel to someone else. Its a hard question to answer since i think everyone has their own idea of what is good and what is bad...My opinion....if you are young and on a tight budget its a great deal. Plenty of food and drink...However, if you are a bit on the fussy side, and prefer more upscale then this sandals is not for you...........

Not worth the Money

I posted a review of the Grande when I got from my Honeymoon last year in 2009. I went to check to see if they kept it up because it was not a good review, and I am sure Sandals is one of their biggest customers..... for my honeymoon Oct 4-10 at the Sandals Grande St Lucia with a swim up room. My initial review was that the service here was terrible......Horrible. I have been to other all inclusive that were not as expensive didn't have to travel as far and had way better service. I chose This resort thinking I would top all the luxury of all the other inclusivess, but I can tell you right now it did not. I sent a letter three times to my travel agent and to Sandals and they never responded to my complaints, because they know there are plenty more young inexperienced travelers who will keep going there. Most of the couples were young honeymooners who may have left the country a couple of times if lucky. I can tell you the grounds are beautiful. I am a foodie, I found the food to be above decent for an all inclusive. I was bothered that I didn't get to try all the restaurants on the resort. Even though I discussed it with my travel agen. I tried to make reservations in advance like I have done at other inclusives but they reassured me that I would get in to them all. We didn't..... The bar staff is wonderful, but housekeeping is poor. Our room was only cleaned three times in the time we were there, even when we called and complained...

Honeymoon

We had an amazing time. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. When we got there I believe they had overbooked our room, so they gave us an upgrade for free for one night. Which was cool but then we had to pack our stuff back up and move to another room the next day. Also we bought internet for the week in the first room and then when we got moved we ended up in one of the only rooms that didnt get internet, but that was no big deal because we rarely spent anytime in the room. The pool atmosphere was awesome, lots of music and people. Drinks were amazing. We went on a zip-lining excursion and a party boat, they both were so much fun. I would encourage anyone to take advantage of the excursions even though they cost more money they are well worth it. Also if you want to go snorkling or scuba diving you need to book it the day you get there, we waited a day and everything was booked up. Anyways I would highly recommend this hotel for any couple!!

Great trip : Jan 2-9/10

Had a great time at Sandals Grande. The resort was mostly newlyweds, seriously 70%, probably because of New Year's. Had a blast with a lot of new friends. The resort itself is very nice. I've been to nicer resorts but I have nothing serious to complain about. The biggest disappointment for most people was the bathroom, although there was nothing wrong with them. Most were expecting marble bathrooms and showers like Mexican resorts. The food was very good. The one restaurant you have to pay for, Gordon's, is amazing. They called us one morning and offered us a meal there and it was by far the best meal I've had in a long time. The staff was very good, * rules, and fast for the most part. We did two tours. The first was a boat tour with a guy from the beach who was not affilitated with the hotel. He was awesome. Very knowledgable and friendly. Took us into all the bays, went snorking, saw the sulfur springs in the volcano, went to the waterfall and also to his mother's for lunch which was great. From what I heard this tour was better than the hotels. The second tour was the ziplining through the hotel. It was a long drive but it flew by because of *'s entertainment. The ziplining through the rain forest was also worth the drive. You can get ziplining on the beach but from what others said ours was a lot better. There are also two big hills beside the hotel you can climb which gives you an incredible view. There might be better places to stay but we have no complaints about Sandals. Then again you could stay in a cardboard box and still love St.Lucia.
