My wife and I had to cancel our European trip Friday, August 9 at the urgent request of her cardiologist who had reviewed the results of test taken during the week including an echocardiogram indicating she was having difficulty with a ventricle, a valve, and a thorasic aneurysim. After contacting Backroad to cancel the river portion of our trip I called Travelocity. I spoke with a representative who supposedly interceded with United airlines to allow us to use all but $300 per person on a subsequent trip provided it was booked by January. I also asked that he cancel any hotel bookings we had Travelocity for now. Getting your current message makes me wonder if everything he helped me with was bogus.

Location, location, location! I got half of the mandatory Budapest attractions done within 3hrs after checking in. Giant room with a view looking directly at the church. Mostly friendly staff with 1 rude breakfast room lady complaining that I didn't close the door after entry. Guess what, there's no sign saying to close the door behind. 2ndly, I didn't spend money to get yelled at, even if it was in a language I don't understand.

Wonderful location however it’s a little further than the 15 minutes walk from the central train station- including lots of steps! Breakfast was very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Family trip

Great location, beautiful view from our rooms, nice breakfast, only the coffe maker did not work. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. It's quite noisy from early morning but I still highly recommend this place. If you want to sleep until late this hotel is not for you because the Matthias Church is in front of it and the bells might wake you up and the loud tourists as well. There are some buses from there to the city center so you don't need to climb up and down on the stairs. If you drive parking can be a headache.

Just outside the castle. Transport to hotel is fine. Just need to change a bus but convenient enough. Room is good and reception is happy to provide hot water for daily use from them. Bed is great and clean. May need to slowly upgrade their in room carpeting. Value stay with such great location and good room. Aircon is on service and a bit dissappointed about it. I like my room teklmp 20 to 25°C. 😊

Perfect location; wasted potential to improve

The hotel has one of the best locations in the city, and very helpful staff, but no effort has been made to improve the facilities and decor which are noticeably tired, and lacking in many areas. The lights in the corridors did not all work and are nothing was done to fix them the full 5 days of our stay. The mattresses are hard; the sheets do not quite fit the beds; the duvets are old and lumpy; only one very flat pillow is provided; no tea or coffee making facilities in the room; shower head would not remain up. These are all areas that house-keeping and maintenance could attend to quickly and with minimal major expense, but there appeared to be no motivation to improve the quality of the building, which is such a shame as it has such huge potential.

It's just a bit dated and pretty no-frills -- no coffee-making facilities in the room, liquid soap+shampoo dispenser, etc -- but this place is absolutely fantastic for the price. Staff v helpful, great location if you want to stay in the castle district. Aim for one of the dormer rooms on the piazza side (I stayed in 238); stunning views of the church across the way, vaulted ceiling. Breakfast was standard continental fare; I skipped the hot options.

Nice Budget Hotel - Great Location

Excelllent location, the hotel is next to the historic Matthias Church (Matyas Templom) and Fisherman's Bastion, which is like your private terraces, and from there you can have a good view of the Danube River and the city. No one can beat this hotel in terms of location. Castle Hill district is very beautiful, Budapest Castle is just 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The best time to walk around the area is early mornings before all the tourists groups come. Enjoyed the fresh air outside the hotel. At nights, it's so nice to walk around just outside the hotel and enjoy the views of the Parliament House, the Danube river as well as Matthias Church which is lighted at nights. Shops, cafe and convenience stores are just iutside the hotel. Trust me, you will enjoy Castle Hill more than any area in Budapest. Thanks to Thomas at the front desk for being so helpful with a smile.

Excellent location for this hotel very comfortable

We were very pleased for choosing this hotel ,impressive views nearby,we liked the historic objectives so close to it,the idea of the majestic pedestrians area,everything about this 3 star hotel was very good.The price also was very good,actually we had an apartment,our stay here was memorable so for tourists visiting Budapest this hotel is an excellent option(free parking too).It is a real pleasure to walk nearby,green spaces all around,old trees and shrubs.It is an area crowded with tourists.
