We had the absolute best stay! The place was exceptionally clean and had every little thing you could think of from kitchen supplies to Nespresso machine to a first aid kit to walkie talkies to kayaks! If you forgot something, no problem because they most likely had what you needed. The dock was a great fishing spot! Beautiful view of the lake from the screened in porch without having to go down the steps, but trust me you will still want to go down the steps to the lake. Communication and check-in was a breeze. We cannot say enough good things about this place, by far one of the best places we have stayed at with so many extra amenities from indoor games to outdoor games and activities. You could never be bored at this house! A great place for a couple or a family!

The home had every possible amenity you could think of. Such a beautiful view of the sunrise each morning sitting on the dock with a cup of coffee. Tons of activities, as a couple or family. Loved our stay, will certainly come back. The owners made homemade cinnamon buns! Such a blessing and treat.

We had a wonderful stay. The view is wonderful! Check-in process is super easy and the kitchen is very well stocked. It also has lots of games and activities to do while you are here. The direct access to the lake is also excellent! The hosts are responsive and super helpful. They even had delicious homemade cinnamon rolls for us which was an extra special touch. We really enjoyed our weekend here!

what an amazingly place. Really enjoyed the kayaks and swimming. Comfortable beds and a well stocked kitchen. Enjoyed the screened in porch and watching the deer run by. Everything you need for a restful break.

This is easily the most well-appointed and thoughtfully stocked rental we have ever stayed in. The hosts thought of everything for comfort: tiny bedside fans, towels, shampoo and soap, bug spray, even a lap desk for working or reading. The kitchen was wonderful and fully equipped, complete with a Nespresso machine. The furniture was all comfortable, and little touches throughout the house made it feel both welcoming and practical.The screened-in porch offered a relaxing spot with a beautiful view, and there were kayaks, paddleboards, yard games, and board games. Every detail was designed with enjoyment in mind.We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable getaway. We would also recommend checking out 313 Franklin Cocktails & Kitchen in South Hill. The food was amazing, and the restaurant is in a converted old school, which is clever and very cool.Note to dog owners: The only small downside, outside of the owner’s control, is that the neighborhood has several off-leash dogs. Since our dog is reactive, we kept him on the property and by the lake rather than on the road. A couple of dogs chased our car and entered the yard, and we also encountered them while biking. They seemed more bark than bite, but for anyone with a leashed or nervous dog, it is worth being aware.Overall, this rental was truly amazing, one of the best we have ever experienced, and we would absolutely stay here again.

Perfect location right on the lake! The cottage is in a very peaceful and quiet area of Lake Gaston. We enjoyed kayaking, fishing, walking around the neighborhood, fires by the lake, and more. The cottage was well equipped with everything you could ever want or need. The beds were comfortable and I appreciated the over abundance of blankets throughout the house! We love a good, soft blanket. Andrea was great at communicating and quick to respond. The homemade cinnamon rolls were such a delicious and personal touch, they did not last long with our family! Would highly recommend Sunrise Cottage for your next lake stay!

This is our second year staying in this house and it was just a good as the first year! Communication was awesome. Andrea and Troy are so kind and welcoming we felt right at home. Home that fits every need!

First, they have this amazing expresso machine with the best coffee options. So much, that I tried to replace the ones we had for the week. Secondly, they also made homemade cinnamon rolls for the next morning. That was so kind and thoughtful especially for people who have a distant drive and need to go grocery store the next day or maybe have little ones. We did not have far of a drive but did not pack as much as we usually do this time. They do have accommodations for all ages from games to outdoor life vest and activities. The neighbors are also very kind and understanding which is always good in my opinion when you are bringing a dog. All in all, everyone was very friendly as well as their furry pets. The homeowners were very outstanding making sure all your accommodations were met for your stay! I would highly recommend staying here as we hope to visit again!

We stayed at Sunrise Cottage for four nights. The property has a beautiful view. It's an older home that is updated just enough to make it wonderful without sacrificing the vintage "lake house vibe." We saw beautiful deer, squirrels, a fox, and beautiful eagles that perched in the trees right in our backyard!What really made our stay special though, was all of the great communication from Andrea. She also thought of every little detail and had thoughtful touches everywhere we turned. The home was immaculately clean as well. It was so nice to go somewhere and feel taken care of! I hope to return for another truly relaxing respite.

Birthday retreat on a memorable lake from childhood

This is probably the cleanest, most well stocked, renter friendly VRBO I have ever stayed in. Communication phenomenal, homemade cinnamon rolls waiting on arrival, every possible pot/pan/utensil/supply anyone can need provided. The view of lake is amazing, the canoe,kayaks and paddle boards were total fun, and the fishing was just great! Neighborhood is just peaceful and serene and several friendly dogs who come to visit or wag and bark greeting to you as you paddle by their dock. It was an absolutely relaxing and perfect week. THANK YOU Andrea and Troy!!!! Would 200% book again!!!

Relaxing lake house vacation

Property was very clean, has every item you could possibly need in the kitchen which is a plus. I appreciated how dog friendly the home was too, my dogs made good use of the toys and bowls they supplied as well as the “dog towels” the owner left us which was very thoughtful! My husband and I had a relaxing weekend and enjoyed fishing off the dock and kayaking.

We enjoyed our stay. Spent most of our time on the porch. It was lovely. Used the fire pit one evening. Quite a distance to travel if you wanted to dine out. Quiet neighborhood.

Fun Times

Celebrated an 84th birthday with my mom, brothers and a few friends. Caught fish, grilled steaks, played with the dog and should have reserved for the whole week Definitely a winner! Plan on returning again.

Labor Day family time

This property was perfect for our family get together. It was clean, cozy and well equipped. The dogs had a blast. We rented a boat and the dock was perfect. Other water activities were enjoyed by all and the dock was perfect for fishing We loved it!! Oh and the cinnamon rolls were super yummy! Thanks for a great stay!
