We always love our stay at the waring house - it might not be for everyone - it is a little dated and a little pricey for being in the off season we’d come back again for sure - the pub food and breakfast in the morning is always great - will come back in the spring :)

Clean rooms. Beautiful grounds. Easy check in and out. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Walking distance to bar with live entertainment.
It's a nice property, the rooms are also quite nice... but the mattress in our room (107) is beat up, the carpets need a deep cleaning and the food was uninspiring. So room for improvement for sure.
All was lovely, until I asked for a one hour late departure, then a very sour unprofessional receptionist gave me an argument about only having two housekeepers. I pointed out that as they had been busy on Saturday night the housekeeper would not have time to get to my room in any event. I was grudgingly given the extension of my king room but with a look from the pit of nastiness. All other staff and housekeeper lovely and I left the housekeeper whom I met, a tip, and she wasn’t ready to do my room when I left at noon.
Wow! What a good time we had at Waring House. Check in was quick and seamless. Our room was clean, spacious, nice sized balcony, very large 2-person tub, large soft towels and the beds were so comfortable! It was Saturday night and entertainment started at 6:30 in the pub. “The Reasons” were the local band, I’d return again just for their show, great music and there was even a bit of room for dancing. If you’re in the Picton area, choose The Waring House.

Room was very clean if a little worn itvhad a nice outdoor patio that unfortunately was inaccessible due to a broken doorway.
The water is heavily chlorinated and tastes brackish. It would have been a nice gesture to have guests provided with at least one bottle of water. This is becoming the norm in hotels and motels these day.
All of the staff were friendly and helpful.
I booked this stay because there was a restaurant but I would not recommend the restaurant. The ‘warm bread’ was an ice cold dinner role that felt as though it had barely defrosted. The carrots were not cooked the kale and potatoes were also cold and the fish was cold and tasteless. The whole was a plates of unappealing bone dry lukewarm food.
A shame because the salad and dessert were quite good.
Breakfast was great. Needs. better iptions for dinner. Overpriced.

My friend and I had a fun stay and really enjoyed the food at Amelia's restaurant and our server, Helen, made our stay. The grounds are so beautiful. Both the supper and one of our breakfasts were not warm enough although delicious. Our room had many stains on the carpet and we felt that with some upgrades and changes, this place could be even more amazing!
The stay was good overall, we had a few issues with cleanliness however. The sheets has makeup stains, the wine glasses had lips marks at 2 different occasion (in our room and at breakfast), the staff would limit our orange juice to one glass at breakfast, there was no coffee in our room. There is room for improvement. The location is beautiful and close to downtown Picton and restaurants, shops.
Our room was not clean. There were disgusting stains on the carpet and I'm not quite sure what else. Not sure if it was medication or a candy or something else in front of screen door.
Waring House is a large facility with a variety of accommodation. It has beautiful gardens and property. The room was large, clean and comfortable with a lovely deck . The breakfast was freshly prepared and delicious.
