Let the managers run the country!

The Belfry is brilliantly well run. The staff are by far the best I've ever met in any hotel in my entire life. Truly brilliant. Friendly, engaging, funny, professional and confident. Proud of where they work and their part in it. Not unctuous just terrific. They should let the managers run the country. And before you dismiss my enthusiasm for the ramblings of someone who doesn't get out. I travel the world always staying at the best hotels. The Belfry was my third that week.

We stayed in a suite, some real basics missing. No fridge, no air con, nowhere to hang stuff on bathroom, repairs weren't done until we had asked for the 2nd time, no morning service. The prices are above average but the service/facilities less than

The staff were friendly, the hotel looked very nice but our room wasn't ready on check in and so had to use a different room that was ready and the bed want made ready. It was very hot in the room and uncomfortable to sleep. More so little inconveniences but when you pay that much for a room, you expect a certain level of standard. So I feel quite dissapointes. Especially as we arrived early told our room had been cleaned and just needed to be inspected and still after an hour wasn't ready for check in. We were there for a wedding event and other people were getting there rooms and checking in earlier too.

Grounds etc seemed well kept and attractive. Plenty of parking - mostly under trees so sap and other “droppings”😉 an issue. Our main gripe is the room we had - we were there for 2 nights to attend a family wedding at another venue and had booked two rooms both the same price. It was as if they were in two different hotels! The room we stayed in was tiny, lots of “people” noise and air conditioning whirring. Tv switched itself off every few minutes, no full length mirror, hot water took,with no exaggeration around 10 minutes to come thru and if you’re 6’ or over you cannot get under the shower head. The shower room itself was very snug. We were also on 3rd floor without a lift.

Uninhabitable due to noise

Do not book a stay here if you would like any sleep. Particularly if you’ve had the misfortune of being issued room 3203. The room is on the second floor and advertised as sound proof. However was anything but. The noise from the bar was so loud we could just as easily have been inside a club. I rang reception and asked at what time the musics would stop, I was advised 2am. While they did offer me an alternative room, a twin instead of the king I’d booked, I didn’t bother staying as the night had already been ruined. Also note - the Signature king room I had was tiny, anyone over 5ft10 will not be able to stand under the shower as the head is so low, the toilet is positioned so your knees have to be under the sink while on the loo. We also had a broken window and broken blind as well as black marks on the towels. There were no coat hooks nor a hand towel hook. And there was no arm chair and table shown in the photos. Hotels.com customer service has been appalling to resolve getting a refund.
