Reception staff on arrival rude and sarcastic esp Reception Manager. No air conditioning. Had two rooms one had average air con the other none. Lack of air con not highlighted by staff. Could have been managed so much better. Room phone not working. Took 2 hours for second fan to arrive. Cold water tap regularly issued hot water. So, a number of HSE issues. Left after 1 of 3 nights. Reception staff on second day much more helpful. Went to Hotel du Vin which was first class.

Air conditioning in the room (any rooms) not working, complained and got appalling service at reception, no offering compensation. Terrible sleep. Next morning shower and sink taps were red hot so could only just manage a shower.

Hotel was great, nice rooms and bar etc but air conditioning wasn’t working and no cold water flowing through the shower only very hot water. When discussed with hotel staff on reception, they were rather rude to customers.

At check-in the receptionist was lovely, she efficiently got us ready to go into the room. When we opened the door there was two standing fans there and when trying to turn the AC on nothing happened. We called reception and another fan was given however, the room was so unbearable to be in we decided to check out. Again the receptionist was really understanding and as there weren’t any other rooms available offered a refund for our room. Amazing staff Terrible room

The rooms do not have air conditioning. As they are in a tower block with big windows which don’t open, the room was stifling. Two fans didn’t touch it. I felt sorry for the staff on the desk. I checked out and they agreed a refund. They simply should not be selling rooms if they are unable to provide them at a habitable temperature.

Disappointing stay - there were 2 fans blowing hot air around a boiling hot room when we arrived. We was told maintenance were fixing the issue - when we arrived back after a night out the heat was unbearable so we had to move rooms at 2am in the morning! Both rooms were worn and where there had been attempts to redecorate it was all unfinished. Breakfast again disappointing - the food was of poor quality.

Go to the AC Hotel next door

Arrived and checked in. On entering our room, it was like a sauna! The air con did not work. We returned to reception to be told there was no alternative room as no room has functioning air con! Why were we not told this was the case?? Cancelled booking and luckily got in at the AC Hotel next door, cheaper, cleaner, great breakfast, and all staff friendly and welcoming. And with functioning air con! Apparently, they have had many people checking in from the cube due to the issues with lack of air con and no hot water, poor to no maintenance. Avoid The Cube, go to the AC Hotel next door

Not a great stay

Booked the Cube Hotel as a treat night away, on arrival given one access card which didn’t work, had to go back to reception. On getting in the room there was a musty smell and it’s was very warm, air conditioning didn’t work but the electric fan did. Only two sachet of coffee provided which was reported to reception but not actioned. The TV didn’t work, could get apps but none worked, reception sent a lady to look at the TV but still couldn’t get it to work. On return from our evening we thought a drink in the bar which were told would be open we were told they were closing at 9:45pm, we said we were residents and offered reluctantly one drink which we now declined. Hotel on check out reimbursed 50% of the stay. Would have expected better from the Cube, lots of other hotels in Birmingham with better facilities and service for cheaper.

Room was absolutely ridiculously hot and had a fan going. I rang reception to ask if any other rooms were cooler and was told no but receptionist said she would switch aircon on from there. I phoned back about 20 min later as aircon had not come on - was told she would reset it and it takes 20-30 mins to cool down. It didn’t ever come on and about 1.5 hours later at 10:35pm receptionist called me to say I could move to another room with 2 fans (aircon had still not come on). Alternative room was very slightly cooler and also had no working aircon but I repacked and moved as anything was better than the absolute oven I was in.

Convenient, clean but a little tired

We have stayed in a few of the balcony rooms to date. They’re always lovely. However, this time the room was looking a little tired. The curtains were hanging off the rails in 2 places & we didn’t have any patio furniture which was a shame as the balcony was very large. Other balcony rooms we’ve stayed in before had patio furniture so we could make the most of being outside.
