This would have once been a beautiful little family run hotel I imagine. However walking through the door we immediately realised it had not been cared for or well maintained for likely a number of years. Dark, very dated, no visible staff and when we found one they were in a tracksuit and felt like I had walked into their lounge. It felt dead, the bedrooms were dated and dusty with paint peeling and equipment straight from the 80's / 90's. Bedding was clean and location is ideal for places like Howarth or Salts Mill. But that is really where the compliments end sadly.

The room was very dated, there was a wall light hanging of with exposed wires. Door didn’t shut and lock properly. Wall paper was ripped in places. Television didn’t work as there was no aerial cable. Not to mention no restaurant or food at the hotel and no bar. Won’t be staying there again.

The drive resembles an entrance to building site, large pot hoke. Wall paper peeling off in bathroom, bed mattress bigger then bed base/6 inches over hang but was comfortable. Heavy duty curtains r/h hanging on by 2 clips, tv stand broken & lots of dust + no back up toilet roll. Didn't go down for second breakfast as it's not even continental. Minimum of thing's offered & dining room so dusty. Over all I could mention more thing's & it's a shame as the building is beautiful. With maintenance & more attention to detail it could be a gorgeous place that I'd rather pay more to stay in.

Parking was easy and check in was non existent, no signature or details, bar name taken. Only one member of staff at one time seemed to be employed, (the lady we saw was, though, excellent.) Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was a sorry affair which should not be advertised, toast and a few cereals was all that was available. Several guests took one look and said they were going to McDonald's. The room, the hotel itself were still decent but it just appears to be in its death throws with no interest or inclination to run it as a viable concern. A once great hotel now in rapid decline.

Beautiful building full of character features. Staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. Room was spotless but a little dated. Huge lounge where you can sit in the evening and a lovely garden. Breakfast options were limited but the overall price is unbeatable value for money.
