La FrĂ©gate feels like a weathered beach lodge. It is clean and comfortable and the ocean view (and constant sound of the waves) is everything! The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice (for an additional €13) and the reception area features a full bar, where you can conveniently order a cafĂ© or cocktail. The local buses go into Bayonne, Biarritz, Guethary or Saint Jean de Luz. Bedding and bathroom were comfortable. I wish the balcony windows had screens, as small flies appeared on warmer days. But overall, it was a wonderful stay. We recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for the beach and the view. The Hotel would need an upgrade. Rooms are smaller than expected. A bit pricy for what it was. Air conditioned did not work but if you open the patio you sleep with the ocean sound. Breakfast was ok. There is the beach restaurant that had great food. We still enjoyed our stay.

Scenic views in Bidart

I highly recommend staying here. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. This place is located in a prime location, very close to the bus stop, and the beach is a two minute walk away. Really great views of the Plage and of Bidart town.

Perfect! I really enjoyed my stay

The bedrooms are wonderful! They all have an ocean view and everything to help you to feel comfortable (terrasse, hot water, king size bed, rocking chair...). I really recommand it!

Good hotel in excellent location right on the beac

We stayed two nights at this nice hotel on the way back to the UK from Southern Spain. Fantasticically comfortable bed in recently refurbished room. Small room and bathroom but everything needed for a short stay. Good food in restaurant and reasonably priced. Only downside was the noise from the road and from a digger moving sand into lorries right outside our bedroom window from 8 am until 6 pm! We would ask for a room at the other end of the hotel away from the road if staying again.

A well-located hotel of a reasonable standard

Hotel has a great location overlooking the beach with reasonable balconies. However the sun rarely shines on them because (our wing at least) they are essentially north facing. The other wing looked only slightly better! The room had a rather basic feel at first sight but in fact the fittings were of good quality (Villeroy & Boch sink, Grohe shower etc.). This was down to the décor which was not to our taste. The restaurant was quite reasonable in terms of price and quality and there were alternative restaurants close by. The staff were friendly. There were no shops nearby and Bidart centre (which contains a few shops and eateries) was 10-15 minutes walk. You would really need a car. Going the other way Guethary centre is probably 20-25 minutes. The hotel has a very nice lounge and outside decking and eating areas (with sun loungers and patio furniture) overlooking the beach.

Great hotel

Cannot fault this place , staff , room, food, breakfast, all brill , all except one thing ........ There was no window in the bedroom , so no fresh air at night , it had a pair of double doors , but not what you want open at night on the ground floor and next to the car park ,other than that you can't fault it . Go for it you won't regret it .

This was an great hotel! Just what I needed to start my trip and that bed after the flight was soooo good. The location is beautiful, waking up every morning to the sounds of the ocean. The room was good, fresh and clean. Huge bed (for 1 person) and provided a kettle and a cookie! My only complaint is you can hear the neighbors especially when they're on the balcony. My first couple of nights it was loud (more so in the morning) and I was struggling with the jet lag so it was a bit annoying. This isn't the hotels fault though, it's all who you're stuck with at the time! The front desk staff were very helpful and able to speak in English. It was perfect and I wish I could go back! Location: it's about 5 min from Biarritz. I rented a car and it was easy to find, also discovered the faster way to get to Biarritz. Bidart is a beautiful town and the surfing looks amazing! I came speicfically to watch the surfing competition so it was perfect. If you're lucky and have a board with you, the surf is right there in front of the hotel. Wish I could've gone in! It takes you away from the bustle of Biarritz, very relaxing. There is also a bus that goes to and from Biarritz which is very easy to take.

Quiet hotel right on the beach with every room having an ocean view. Compact room with nice decor and up to date bathroom. Enjoyed balcony for drinks in the evening. Good breakfast buffet. Friendly and helpful staff. Hotel was within easy walking distance of the pretty village of Bidart and many restaurants.
