Budget motel with most rooms refurbished. Owner was super nice and very understanding when we got him out of bed to unlock our room when we left key inside. No breakfast onsite, plenty of options nearby.

The property was fine... just very dated. The weirdest thing happened... We wanted to check the weather on the tv and could not find the remote. I went to the lobby around 5:30 p.m. and it was locked up tight despite the hours were supposed to be until 8 or 9... A couple pulled up to check in and they couldn't get an answer at the door or by telephone...

The man and woman who I spoke with on phone were very helpful and friendly. They helped us make a plan for a very late check-in and that went smoothly. The room was large, and mostly clean - there was a smell like an old building would have, but not intolerable, and the light fixture on ceiling had a bunch of dead flies in it). However, the building is in a state of disrepair. The ceiling in our room clearly had had water damage at some point. There was a large water damage stain towards the center. By the door there was a whole strip of ceiling tiles that had gotten so wet at one point that they were warped and stained and pulling away from the ceiling, and just left like hanging like that. It made it sketch enough that I wouldn't stay there again if I didn't have to (literally every hotel/motel was booked up within a 50 mile radius OR was outrageously expensive). I was frustrated that the wifi didn't work (it would connect but would get an error message saying "no internet"). We had a late check-in and early check-out so I didn't have a chance to talk to the front desk to try to get it fixed. This would have impacted us more if we needed to spend more time at the motel. The beds were clean and comfortable and the AC worked well, so I was grateful for that. You do get what you pay for.

The proprietor was friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. The room was reasonably clean. However... we were disappointed in the following: The walkway to the room (up steps) was not shoveled and difficult to traverse, especially while carrying luggage. The thermostat on the room's heater was set to not exceed 72, which would have been fine if the room temperature actually reached 72... but it was definitely cooler than that. Similarly, the hot water ran out before a warm bath could be drawn. And, speaking of the bath, the tub and grouting were very stained and in a marginal state of repair.
