"We stayed here for two nights in August. Here are the pros and cons.
Pros. Very clean, comfortable beds, helpful staff, quiet location (some of the guests not so much). Free coffee/hot chocolate is available and you can buy bottled water on site. Location is beautiful. Nice spacious showers (no bath).
Chop House restaurant was excellent but probably the most expensive restaurant in Alaska that I've ever been to (and I live here)!
Breakfast was also ok, had hot items like eggs and sausages, a cereal selection, fresh fruit, toast, muffins, MYO waffles, juice, coffee and some snacks like granola bars.
Cons. No air conditioning so the room was like a sauna! Hotel provides fans and you can open the window, but that exposes you to the noise of the parking lot and noisy non-hotel guests who are eating at the restaurant, which is not ideal.
We were not aware that we would need a reservation to eat in the on-site restaurant, so after a 7 hour drive to get there, and starving, we had to wait over 30 minutes for a table to become available. No big deal, but we could have been made to wait longer, or worse, not been able to get a table at all.
The room rate doubles during State Fair time."
