Perfect Setting, Lots of Potential,Needs Work
The property itself sits above the lake with gorgeous views and deck. It has a very nice open area in the kitchen and living room spaces. The bedrooms and bathrooms are good sizes. There is a house next door with no privacy which does not show in the listing, however the neighbors were extremely nice but had a lot of activity at the house and visitors during our week. The house itself, needs some work, looks like they were in the middle of a refurb or something, the steps were unfinished and there were wires hanging from the ceiling and wires exposed in all outlets. The AC/Heat didn't work, and not many windows to open with screens. There is a wood burning stove we never tried. Couches definitely need to be replaced. We thought the beds were comfortable. There must of been a nest of wasps somewhere we kept killing them. The bedrooms are cute but a little weird you can tell they are from when someone lives there but closet doors were off things like that. There use to be a surround sound or something, TV and possibly internet but no more. I wish they had listed that. Also a jacuzzi on the desk that also did not work. I have rented many properties from VRBO and this is the 1st one that looked super nice online but a bit deceiving, if they finish it up and address these issues it would be a great rental. I would also recommend pointing out there is no TV/Wifi. The owner is super nice, they had to come late at night to navigate us through the roads to the house as it was dark and the GPS does not take you to the house by GSP directions. Overall, it is a great place to get away from it all if you are aware of these few things, and be prepared to drive to get places like Lubec and Bar Harbor which we were but still seemed a lot farther than we planned.
