The sink was partially stopped and backed up every time we washed our hands. Discovered the multi-use hotel conditioner bottle was empty during the middle of my shower. There was no sheer inner curtain on the window like most hotel rooms have so that you can let light in without people seeing in your room from outside. Only blackout curtain or open glass. Nice outdoors on the lake, but some of it- like the gazebo is a little unkept and trash sitting near back doors and looked like people were partying the night before and left things kinda messy. Otherwise beds were comfy and we slept well. Enjoyed sitting down by the lake in the morning. Good, hot breakfast and the women who takes care of guests, cleaning dining area and filling food supply at breakfast on the weekend was doing awesome at that. Staff was friendly and helpful.

America Matters So Let's Show That It Does

It is a hidden gem with exceptional staff. They are doing their best to stay afloat like too many places are. The building is aged yet they do their best with what they can. The necessity of fresh linens and towels. The renovation of their breakfast area was a hidden gem with still fresh waffle toppings, resl whipped cresm and homemade biscuits & gravy! Staff are keeping the area top-notch.

We stayed at this hotel September 2025. Immediately after walking in to our room, there was a bad musty oder. We turned the air on and that seemed to help at bit. After arriving back from dinner, it was cold so we turned the heat on low and the smell was horrible. Terrible nights sleep. Early the next morning we asked to be moved. The man at the front desk was so kind and got us a different room right away. The hotel is very old and could use some updating. Would not stay there again!

Since I was staying 3 nights I asked for a view of Lake Superior. It as wonderful. I saw 2 eagles playing over the water.

Our stay was okay, we stayed for 4 nights and only got the room cleaned once, when it was cleaned out Roku Remote (that we brought from home) went missing. We reported it to the front staffthat night and he said he would look into it. In the morning when we were going to check out I asked about the remote and the front desk staff said he had no idea what I was talking about. The pictures of the swimming area aren't updated, so it was a little disappointing. Disappointed with our stay, will not stay again.

We loved the games and activities set up outside of the hotel on the lake side! It was a great place to stay for a family. The rooms were nice and large, and the kids had fun in the pool area as well as in the back lawn area.

This place needs updates on the rooms and staff, checked out this morning, front desk man no thank you nothing. And the reason i called him a man instead of gentleman, because no customer service. Shower leaked everywhere. Toilet just kept running for over two nights. I asked front desk for some wash clothes. Attitude. I stayed at other Americinn and alway had nothing but good thing to brag about. Americinn was always our first place to stay. After this experience we are looking at different options unfortunately. Stay at this location. At your own risk.

We had booked a 2 bed queen with lake view and balcony/patio. We got our room as booked but that is where the experience changed. The room smelled musty and like dog. Now I know the hotel does allow dogs but I thought thorough cleaning of the room after each guest leaves would be sufficient in eliminating the smell. We were wrong. The previous guests also left a dog poop bad full on the patio right by the door. With the musty smell came an overall damp feel to the room. The beds and soft surfaces were slightly damp to the touch. We purchased from Walmart Lysol, disinfectant wipes, and air fresheners. I wiped down all surfaces and sprayed Lysol everywhere in hopes of the musty, wet, dog smell to go away. The next day we were out all day, however when we returned the smell was just as bad. I called the front desk to ask if that is what all the rooms smelled like. The front desk clerk said he “didn’t think they all smelled like that.” He did offer to move us to another room. This time we got a smaller room but still a 2 queen with a lake view this time no balcony/patio. The smell wasn’t nearly as bad as the first room, but the cleanliness was again lacking. The amount of mold in the bathroom around the tub and shower stall was bad. I again cleaned all surfaces and in doing so it was apparent that dusting is not part of the room cleaning service. AmericInn should upgrade and think about the cleanliness of their rooms. We won’t be staying at another AmericInn again.

Nice beach but an overpriced dog kennel! Room reeked of mold and dog piss! Carpets were damp and bathroom floor covered in condensation! Slip hazard also! Couldn't wait to get home and shower! Wife now has upper respiratory sickness!! Bed was good! Breakfast was good! Room has to have mold!!
