Hot tub wasn’t used, no opinion. If your door code has changed, please update that on VRBO check in process. Talking to us through the ring at the front door as we arrive isn’t the most comfortable experience. Thank you for having places set at the table, that’s very appreciated. A lot of the plates that were set out on the table had food stains and grime on them. Just FYI to check before you present them.

Portage Lakes Cottage

Overall our stay was fine. However, there were a few suggestions we'd like to make.1) We could not regulate the temperature -- too cold some times.2) Could not figure out how to turn on exhaust fan on stove top.3) No clear statement that there are 16 steps to enter the unit -- was confused with the cottage photo on the street versus the entry behind the house. (we are both 74 years old).4) No soap liquid in one of the bathrooms. The container was empty on the sink.

Nice area

The unit was as advertised. Worked well for my teen daughter and I while we were in the area for a softball tournament. It was the 4th so lots of neighbors shooting off fireworks - but nothing that that property owner had control over. Very near the water, which we liked as we checked out the local waterfront establishments nearby.

Place was nice and new and close to our venue but needed vacuumed. We also found a piece of womans clothing on the bedroom floor sticking out from under bed. Smoke detector peeped all first night needing a battery but we personally fixed it the next morning. The owners sister did give us a battery.

Served its purpose

When I booked with Thomas, I was looking for a place between Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the football hall of fame. This worked. It's very clean and comfortable. Please be advised that the listing says there's a grill, but there wasn't when we were there, which would have been useful when we had no power (BAD storm, not a property issue). The lack of advertised grill is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Also, remember to bring ziploc bags, foil etc. And the largest size bowl available is a soup bowl, so serving a salad or other sides may be difficult. Thomas was very good with communication.

The suite was well constructed and very nice finishes were used in good taste. The ad never disclosed it had 13 stairs and was a suite above a garage. The photo used was the front of a cottage we thought we were renting. It was a little deceiving. The actual suite was behind the cottage. We are elderly. My husband is 78 and I’m 76. We had to carry our 3 pieces of luggage and a weeks supplies up 7 or 8 trips. The toilets were very dirty and one had dried urine under the seat lid. The toilet lids were loose. One toilet was clogged. There were dust bunnies under the sofa. The floors and carpet were not swept. The kitchen table top was very dirty and smudged glass. The dishes were dusty that were sitting on top. My paper towel was black after wiping it off. The communication with host was slow to be answered. It took 2 days to get any response. The toilets were resolved, by his sister, but then they both clogged and we had to use a plunger often. The dryer kept shutting off till after 2 days of texting the host it was explained to me it was a heat pump and I had to empty the catch bin when full of water. Which it was full of water when we got there and that’s why it kept shutting off. It was very stressful as we were in from Fl to Oh for our Grandsons wedding. I even had to send our wedding clothes out to be pressed as there was no iron as stated in the amenities. I asked for one for 2 days and was told there is one there. No iron. Mostly the place was dirty.

Nice place

This is a very nice place. We enjoyed it. Close to lake and restaurants. Towel hooks needed outside of the showers tho…and we had to go buy toilet paper because there was one roll total for two bathrooms. Other than that it was perfect

A Wonderful Place to Stay on Portage Lake

Thomas’ vacation rental was just as great as we had hoped it would be! It was new, thoughtfully furnished, very clean and spacious enough for us to spread out. Wonderful, full kitchen, 2BR, 2BA, den, and deck. The neighborhood was quiet, and we were close to Portage Lake, and the friendly downtown area with gas, grocery stores, and restaurants. We were visiting my brother and sister-in-law on nearby Comet Lake, which is a convenient 15 minutes away. Thomas was quite responsive, and answered all of our questions promptly. We looked on forward to renting this property again!

Weekend get away

The place was nice and cozy and super clean. The password we was given for the Internet never worked for any of us staying there. Sent a message and they said it was the password but it never worked. The parking needed to be just a little bigger. Over all though it was great place.
