Relax in Cajun Country
A delightful property and an easy walk downtown. Deborah and I didn't meet until the morning of check out due to my late arrival and busy schedule. Not a problem, we were in touch by text messaging. The refrigerator was well stocked with water, yogurt and tasty quiche for breakfast. I would stay here again.......Tom
Felt stalked, but the room with the high ceiling along with the decore was very relaxing and invigorating. Even the light traffic on the corner lot added whimsicalness to the atmosphere. A better mattress would had added so much more. But thanks for your graciousness and for sharing your beautiful home with me.
My wife and our two dogs needed a place to stay in Abbeville since we were in town for a crawfish boil. Debrah met us when we arrived and showed us around. Her place is within walking distance to my brother-in-law's house, which was perfect. There was coffee and homemade quiches for breakfast, which was great. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone needing to stay in Abbeville and plan on staying there again next time I need to stay overnight there.

Abbeville-The Guest Room
We very much enjoyed our stay here. Everything was clean and well taken care of. The owner was friendly and helpful. I loved the breakfast muffins she left for us. We would definitely stay here again if back in the area.
Wonderful host. Debra was very welcoming, left us snacks and breakfast, bed was very comfortable.

Charming apartment
This is a very lovingly decorated and appointed apartment. Deborah has clearly put her heart into it, and provided everything you need - including some really great breakfast items. The refrigerator is stocked with what I assume are homemade mini-quiches, yogurt, orange juice, bananas, etc. Although not a bed and breakfast, it almost felt like it.
Speaking of beds, the mattress was excellent, which is a 'must' for us.
Deborah wasn't intrusive but checked in occasionally to see if we needed anything, and if we did, it appeared quickly. She's a great hostess.
There are just two reasons I did not give this five stars. One, the house sits on a main street through the town of Abbeville. Morning rush hour can get a little noisy. If you like to sleep in, take some ear plugs. If you like to get up and at it early, no problem.
Two, although the thought and care put into the decor is amazing, it's kind of crowded, especially for guys. My husband, who is tall but slender, felt very constrained. There was just a little too much furniture for the space, and it didn't seem that it was all necessary. In fact, if you wanted to use the pull out couch for two additional people, it looked like it would be very difficult.
But if you are traveling in this area, I think it would be hard to find a more lovely or comfortable place to stay. Check it out.

Great stay!
We were in town for a wedding, and this was a wonderful place to stay. Close to church and downtown. Lots of great restaurants and things to do in the neighborhood. Loved that the place was decorated for Christmas, especiallly the huge poinsettia bush beside the property. Very nice and accommodating owner, as well. Thank you!

Perfect launching pad for Acadian tour
My stay at The Guest House in Abbeville far exceeded my already high expectations. This charming suite is comfortable and well curated, nestled in a lovely town with a kind host. I was visiting family and sites spread between Lafayette, Baton Rouge and Morgan City. This is a wonderful location...even just to browse the historic little town itself: great food, people and homes. Deborah was attentive but never pestering. What a marvelous renovation (including landscaping!) she has competed on this beautiful property. I never lacked for a thing, plus enjoyed thoughtful extras, like chocolates, bath scrubs and even treats for my canine travel partner! I would stay again and recommend to anyone passing through.

Very clean, excellent value and tremendous owner.
We were attending a concert in Lafayette and also wanted to go to Avery Island. Abbeville is located half way between the two so it was ideal for our stay. Debra was excellent and took care of all our requests. This is a relatively new venture for her and she is the type of person you feel good about supporting.. We enjoy the bed and breakfast experience so we were very pleased.

Charming, adorable space!
We and our two dogs stayed at The Guest Room for three nights to attend a family reunion in a nearby town. It was a great find!
It's larger than a regular hotel room, and Deborah made great use of the space. She had EVERYTHING we could possibly need, including one of those little push lights in the closet (I love those things). I liked that she prepared breakfast the day before and put it in the refrigerator for us to eat in the morning at our leisure. THAT was awesome. I think more places should do that. Her quiche was better than my mom's (I hope my mom doesn't read reviews on VRBO). She also provided lots of snacks including fruit and chocolates. (Now I feel weird for eating the strawberries and blueberries out of the container and leaving the pineapple.) The bathroom was a nice size, and I liked that the tub drained quickly. Oh, and I'm always worried that the provided hair dryer won't blow enough air out for me, but the one there certainly did.
It was unbelievably quiet which was nice. And she has shades over the windows that keep it dark in the morning which was AWESOME. And lots of beautiful plants and flowers.
Abbeville was a good location for driving into Lafayette or the other small towns in the area. And The Guest Room is centrally located to the things in Abbeville itself which meant we could walk anywhere. If we go back, we'll definitely stay here again.
