Mar Y Oro
"Mar Y Oro Hotel and Beach is easily one of the best relaxation spots to recharge for a couple days if not more. The Hotel is on Contadora Island. Rooms are comfortable, we usually get the family suite, even though we are two. The more isolated rooms with fantastic beach views cost more. Check Expedia for great rates. EDIT: 2 years left as of June 2026. We learned this morning that Mar Y Oro Hotel has been sold and will become Semi-Exclusive in 2026. We really appreciate the kind service. This Hotel is a good access point for snorkle and fishing tours. And if you catch fish, they will cook it for you! The beach is one of several on the island that are nice for swimming. It's almost secluded but easy to get to. The most we've seen are about 10 guests, and everyone was just chilling to the bossa nova vibes or swimming in the clear water. The waves here are small to medium at about 4 meters during high tide. At low tide, its the best white noise soothing sound, at least for me. We've been here 4 times over the last 6 years, all good experiences in January, June, September, and October. Arriving to the Island requires either a Ferry ride , (our preference, see photo) or Small plane. Do your own research, and wish you the rest and relaxation you deserve!"
