"Huge & Kid Friendly!"
We just got back from a week long vacation from this resort with two children ages 2 and 1. We had fun! A couple of things you need to know about traveling to Punta Cana: 1. There is a $10 per person visitor's fee when you enter the country and arrive at the airport. We paid $40 in cash for two adults, one toddler and one infant. 2. We were worried about the weather because all week, it was supposed to rain. Instead, it was so sunny, humid, had 100 degree weather in the last week of October, and the kids and I had a tan that just got dark daily. I'm not sure what the weather is like in the summer, but it was TOOO hot & humid for us... BUT perfect beach/pool weather! Yes, it rained twice (but only in the evening). I bring up the weather because we were so close to canceling the trip because of the weather forecast and decided against it. So glad we decided to go! I have a lot to say about the resort itself, but I'll limit it to what I think I'd want to know about this resort. 1. Front Desk/Customer Service: Exceptional! - Front desk upgraded us to a "Luxury Room" so we wound up closer to the beach. It was wonderful. - We needed a crib/playpen but none were available for two nights, per the front desk. However, our "maid" who cleaned rooms brought it to us. She initiated it by noticing our baby and asking if we needed a crib and brought to us within 5 min. - We celebrated my daughter's first birthday at the Italian restaurant (which by the way they had no more availability for reservations but were able to squeeze us in). They made a big deal of my daughter's birthday that night and came out singing with a birthday cake. They made her day special. 2. Rooms: Beautiful with a bit of a problem. - Safes are in the room, but you must pay a fee per day. - Beds are too soft if you ask me. - The rooms were spacious with a beautiful bathroom, 2 queen size beds, and air conditioning / ceiling fan worked perfectly. - Disney Jr is available and kept my daughters busy before nap time. Obviously, it's all in Spanish but they're too young to know the difference. So this was a plus. (Channel 89, I still remember :) - If I were you, you would need to know about their two cons: a) their bug problem and b) refrigerator issues. Regarding the former issue, we had to move to another room because we found a few ants My daughters and I had a few bug bites, nothing too bad.. just a couple here/there. If you are scared of bugs, YOU NEED TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. Why? When we moved to another room, there were still ants BUT also found mosquitos everywhere! not fun! Regarding the latter issue, my baby needs to drink her milk throughout the day. So having a refrigerator that works is very important. Although they switched refrigerators altogether, none of the two refrigerators worked! 3. Resort Overview: Beautiful! -It's not a regular hotel like any that my husband and I have traveled to. Usually all inclusive resorts are just 1-3 buildings with all hotel rooms and they have adjacent buildings for restaurants/bars etc. At this resort, there were maybe 30 buildings, each have about 6-10 hotel rooms (very much like a small apartment building). I think this is what allowed the bugs to come into the rooms. There were also balconies... most hotel rooms & buildings are so far away from the ocean so that you can't really have oceanview unless you're in the "Esmeralda" hotel. I'm not sure what qualifies you to get into those specific rooms but I'm sure it has a price tag or is associated with their "privilege club" (aka timeshare folks). - It's HUGE! The resort includes at least 3 pools that we noticed (all different depths to each one), and a 4th pool was a "water park" for toddlers/kids. It also has a playground and miniature golfing. The ocean is on one side of the resort. The other side has the "Scout's water park". In between are all the hotel rooms/buildings/restaurants. Getting from one end to the other wasn't so bad with kids. We brought our double stroller so we wound up walking a lot with them. However, if you cannot physically walk too much, they have trolleys that run every 10 min or so and it circulates all around the resort (very convenient)! 4. Food was okay. - Buffet was good I guess. It had something for everyone. I'm glad my picky kids always had options. I, for one, am a breakfast person. So I wasn't excited for lunch/dinner meals here. - Restaurants: we only wound up going to the Italian restaurant. My husband said the steak was good. I like my margarita pizza and appetizers/desserts. - They have a hot dog stand by the Scout's water park. - They have a small buffet/snack bar by the pool near the beach.

"Quiet getaway great for couples, not for groups"
Ambar is a great romantic getaway for couples who want to stay somewhere quiet, low key, and romantic.  All of the restaurants require men to wear slacks or long pants which we thought was a bit much for a resort on the beach.  The food options were okay and top shelf liquor is not available at all of the bars throughout the resort so be prepared, especially if you venture out to one of the neighboring Bahia resorts. We had a total of 12 people in our party - mainly couples and had a horrible experience at Don Pablo, the highest rated restaurant at the resort. We made reservations in advance with guest services and they assured us that the restaurant will be able to accommodate our very large 12 person party.  When we arrived at Don Pablo however, we were informed that only 10 people can dine and they weren't helpful at all in trying to accommodate us or getting the issue resolved until we contacted the manager of the hotel.  The staff there was very rude and not helpful at all making the entire dining experience sub par.  We did however enjoy the staff and our experience at the Italian restaurant the next night. Overall would stay here again if we got another great deal, otherwise I'll be looking elsewhere for my next stay.

"This time I tried Esmeralda"
For 4 years now I have vacationed at Bahia Principe, so this year I thought I would try Esmeralda. First thing that happened was we were brought up to a room 3 and 1/2 floors up and the Air conditioning was not working. was sooooo hot in there so we were given a room on the 1st floor, much better! There is a construction sight right outside our room so we had no view from our porch, but the Air worked. The advantages that I did experience were excellent service, having the chance to eat a la carte every night, and experience the entire resort. We went to every part of the resort and enjoyed all the pools and the beach. The staff couldn't do enough for us!!!!!!!! The room was cleaned twice a day because after your shower and ready for dinner and a show when we came back for the night all fresh towels and clean floors. Excellent experience and service! loved it.

"A little paradise in Dominican Republic"
As a business man, very busy, overwhelmed with stress, taking a few days of vacation at the Sivory was a real blessing from the Gods. This place is amazing, very relaxing, and attentive to details; I have to say I highly recommend the Sivory meal plan. Very good cuisine, great location and very peaceful, which helps unwind and get back to a dream state. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a small property on the beach with an attentive staff, some quality time to relax and just enjoy what luxury has to offer.

"Wished i stayed longer. Truly amazing experience. "
I totally wished i stayed longer!!! i went with my husband for our 28th anniversary and with my daughter and her boyfriend and we all truly enjoyed the experience. if you are not traveling with children we totally recommend The Level is way better than the rest, the rooms are true to pictures they are beautiful and truly comfortable. The food is varied and very gourmet,my husband and I enjoyed their varied sea food menu and drinks, we ate way too much actually because everything was just that good. The staff was very friendly and funny, that really made our experience even more memorable. At the Gabi we met Aneurys and Luis, they were really friendly and were eager to get anything we wanted. Jan Carlos at check in was super accommodating and made us feel welcome right away. If you are going to make a dinner reservation anywhere that's not The Gabi ( which i recommend you try first) The French is a good option. The whole hotel was really clean and very accommodating with the trains that take you everywhere, now if you are The Level you can just ask anybody in a golf car for a ride and they will happily take you which is a plus since sometimes you don't want to wait for the train. I was soo good my daughter and boyfriend decided have their honeymoon here next year.

"Amazing family vacation and Vow Renewal!!"
We went to Dreams Punta Cana Nov 21-28th with our children for a week. It was fantastic!! The food was amazing-every restaurant!! If we had to pick our favourite restaurants we would say the Italian and French. Steak is cooked to perfection! Weather in Punta Cana is beautiful. We had a Family Suite in building 7, really wanted a renovated room not on the first floor but they wouldn't move us so that was the only drawback the entire trip. Our room was very clean and comfortable, but slightly musty. Normally we are pretty picky but this could be over seen because of how wonderful the staff was! The service couldn't be better, they will do anything for you. Our kids loved the Explorers Club, especially Maria, they had to give her a hug goodbye before we left. James on the entertainment team is hilarious and so good with kids! Our house keeper Maria was fantastic, always a friendly greeting, our room was spotless and the kids loved all the things she made with towels! Angelo was a pool bar tender who always had a smile on his face, so friendly, would do anything for anyone. Niobe worked at the buffet and she greeted us every day with a smile. Junior worked on the grill, he was an excellent cook, singing the whole time!! Margareet (not sure of spelling) worked at the Seaside Grill and she was wonderful, she gladly took pictures of our family at dinner and she taught our kids a couple words in Spanish! This resort wouldn't be the same if it weren't for the Entertainment Team. Or daughter loved the Zumba and Meringue lessons. We loved the magic show! wow! We also renewed our vows, Carolina was fantastic!! She made our day very special and she did everything so we just had to show up and enjoy! The hotel spoiled us with champagne, fruit, decorated our room, breakfast in bed! What a wonderful experience, cant wait to go back and we are definitely going to try more Dreams Resorts as the service cant be beat!
