The views are amazing!! Which is a good thing because the resort leaves a lot to be overlooked. The staff was not overly hospitable and the rooms definitely need to be tended to. They've thrown some newer updates in there with granite counters, cute beach artwork and vinyl flooring but there are lots of things needing attention like damaged moldings, paint peeling, hardware falling off, non-closing cabinets, etc. But like i said, the ocean views are incredible!

The location (quiet and not crowded) and beach area are the reason to stay here. Parking is convenient and the room was clean and comfortable with a nice little balcony overlooking the ocean. We did not try the restaurant or the swimming pools. Some of the "details" at the resort were a bit neglected. For example, the ice machines were empty, the kitchen lacked a sponge for washing dishes, and the workout room (which is tiny) did not have water or sanitizing wipes. But I would stay there again and just pack some extra supplies! Overall we had a lovely time.

We stayed in room 316. The smoke alarm was pulled away from the ceiling and clearly not working. The sofa was so filthy that we couldn’t even sit on it. One end of the sofa looked like someone threw up and then flipped the cushions. The other end had obviously been urinated on. The front, sides, arms and back of the sofa are brown with grime.

I want a refund

The floor was filthy my grandson was crawling on it and his feet and knees were black. No working ice machines, the door had sharp edges and cut my foot. I went to all floors and couldn’t find a working ice machine! The couch was filthy. The freezer was terrible. I mopped the floor with a hand towel it was black and I took it to the front desk to show them.. no pillows for the pullout couch.

I have stayed in the past multiple times. Now, it needs a room make over, no utensils, no bothing. The room was old and the toilets were not secure to even sit on, running hotbwater didnt last . I could go on but it needs a major update.

The hot water smelled like rotten eggs. It was horrible. We couldn't even take a shower. Even washing a couple of glasses smelled up the whole suite. The patio and view were great, however and we had a good time at the beach.

I took my 4 year old granddaughter to the pool and there were other kids the same age or younger and there were several objects thrown by quests from a different room (8th floor) that the staff had issues with before. We recorded them mooning quest and informed staff about the situation. I was more upset that staff knew, and someone could have been injured. One object missed me by inches. I will not go again.

Pro:Third floor with balcony overlooking the ocean was wonderful. - Beds were comfortable - When called, maintenance responded in a timely manner - nice and close for our wedding event - staff helpful - Cons: disgusting sewer smell that maintenance couldn’t get rid of - no maid service due stay - sliding door to balcony was extremely hard to open - 2 towels for 4 guests - 3 cups for 4 guests - kitchen sink very stained - not enough silverware for 4 people. - 2 little shampoo bottles and 1 bar soap. - not spotlessly clean.

We enjoyed our stay in an oceanfront 1bedroom suite. The only suggestion - it wasn’t very well stocked with utensils, etc. We also liked how it was at the end of the road so there weren’t too many people (even for Memorial Day).

Always love this property. Great location, friendly staff, updated, fresh and clean rooms at least for their top tier rooms. Love the space and ocean views. Wish the pool and hot tub were open all night and that the fitness room was much better though.

Location location! It was wonderful to be oceanfront with a balcony. What was a surprise were the sunset views over the wetlands. Since the resort is at the end of the road, the beach walks were amazing! The bed was comfortable and to have 1 1/2 baths for the two of us was very convenient. The property while dated had friendly staff. For a unique experience of natural beauty with all the comforts of home, we recommend Shell Island Resort.
