A little sketchy
I took a leap of faith staying in a new VRBO with no reviews. For what you get, the price was okay, but my experience was less than stellar. The only real positive was that communication with the host was easy and she responded quickly.
Upon walking in I immediately had to search for all the air fresheners and unplug them because the scent was overwhelming.
The unit was old, but clean. It’s like they “renovated” a really old apartment but didn’t renovate everything and just slapped up new paint to call it “renovated.” Kitchen had updated appliances, bathroom had a new vanity but also had cracks in the tub liner, bathtub didn’t drain well, etc. I also killed a couple of small roaches in the bathroom. Gross, but not unusual in Florida.
But the biggest issue was the neighbors. I assume this place is a pretty low rent complex, which sometimes attracts problematic people. On a Thursday night I was awakened at 3:30am by the neighbors in the unit below this one in a screaming fit, yelling, slamming doors, throwing things… I almost called the police on them. It was not good. They were SCREAMING at each other yelling “Where’s my money? Gimme my money!” Super sketchy. I desperately needed sleep though so I turned up the white noise device I use and tried to drown out the noise of the fight.
The pool doesn’t have any pool chairs or shade.
Check out was easy. Had to strip the sheets and take out trash. Overall, the neighbors ruined the experience.
