value for money

I stayed one night. actually I expected negatively due to its low price but once arrived, it's not bad. both atmosphere surrounding and the hotel was nice and I had no problem with sleep. but there is a guy who complained about bed bugs so I can't simply say all of beds are nice and bath rooms were sometime smelly. they should throw papers more frequently. the hotel gave me free breakfast and internet. that was nice. overall, it's worth for this price.

pros the staff was very kind the breakfast was good the location is very good. near 3 differents train station stops cons there is not rooms like 6 or 10 beds in a room. there is just like a one big room with a lot of beds. it felt if you were in a scared labyrinth. there are just 3 showers and they were extremely dirty. never cleaned before the beds looked like if they were dirty too the air condition was so bad because there is just a big room without doors

Sleepy Kiwi

Firstly it is actually called sleepy kiwi. This place was awful. The reception staff were very nice but the room and the bathroom were disgusting. Nothing about the place felt clean. The dorm wasn't even in a room, was basically just beds along a hallway. Don't stay here.

Bedbugs

This hostel is shabby, expensive, and has bedbugs. Several showers are broken, with mould growing in the walls and ceilings. Rooms are small, beds are not comfortable or particularly clean. Staff were friendly enough.

Good location, that's it.......

Not kiwi at all, do not speak very good English, very not accomodating or helpful. Bed was covered in hair, and had not been washed and no sheets. Seemed like local residents lived there and no backpacker vibe. No walking tours like on the reviews and never got instructions on the lockers and they very tiny. Great location in the heart of the cultural area of Singapore with the sultan mosque & Malay heritage centre close by.

Great location, really good value!

Overall great hostel experience, although I should note upfront that the hostel I stayed at is actually called "Sleepy Kiwi"-- "Green Kiwi" is a different location and caused me much initial confusion when I arrived at the wrong location. It seems hotels.com has not updated the name yet, but the location in Bugis is excellent. The beds were comfy, AC worked well, light breakfast but nice to have, and the location and staff are truly stellar. Lots of restaurants and shops and even a beautiful mosque right outside the front door! Only complaint is there was no soap in the bathrooms to wash your hands, and it would have been awesome if they provided towels.

BED BUGS

The most disappointing part of my stay were the bed bugs in my bed. I couldn't even sleep well because they kept on biting me. So at 3 in the morning i realised that there were no more guests coming in, so i transferred to another bed not only once but twice. The bed bugs were just so crazy and scary. I hope they will change all their beds and sheets. They also have to improve their toilet because it's quite disgusting at times. Singapore is like the cleanest city in the world and this hostel should give justice to that title, they seriously should improve their facilities. I also don't like the idea of leaving my shoes downstairs, hello? my shoes are loubotins and raf simons.

1st time in a Hostel but not my last.

At 60 years old this was the first time I had ever stayed in a hostel. Though most of the other guests were probably in their 20's we met some very interesting people and didn't feel at all out of place. All of the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, especially Benjamin who helped this computer illiterate lady with sorting out my ongoing flight check in when I was getting panicky, and printed off everything I needed to make our ongoing trip less stressful. The beakfasts were great and an added bonus. It was in a very interesting part of Singapore, great restaurants all along the pedestrian street, and great for relaxing and people watching. Prices were very reasonable. My only criticism is that there are few bathrooms for the size of the place, but the building is over 100 years old so it would probably be difficult to build more. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

A hippie, laid-back backpacker-friendly hostel

I loved the very laid-back vibe of the hostel and that they were very flexible with last-minute / on-site bookings. Non-private beds were literally close to a hundred beds divided pretty much by tiny see-through curtains and the bed squeaked as I moved (which would have bothered the traveller below), but somehow I really enjoyed the whole feel of it so it mattered little.
