Relaxing home for your Acadia visit!
This was our first visit to Mt Desert Island. Puffin's Perch was a beautiful, spacious and well maintained home that allowed us to relax while visiting the area. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked to make anything you might want - including lobster. The bedrooms and baths were clean and had plenty of extra linens available in the closets. The dining room table is large. We had family friends over for dinner one night and were able to seat 11 comfortably. The bonus for us was a pinball game machine that everyone in the family had a fun time with in between park visits. This home is located in what they call the "quiet side of the island". We enjoyed staying away from the busy tourist areas most of the week. However, the downside to this was that it was 30 minutes to Bar Harbor. We only went there 2-3 times all week but it made for longer days as coming home to clean up from hiking to dinner clothes didn't make sense time-wise. The only decent grocery store is in Bar Harbor. We flew into Bangor and rented a car. We got a few groceries on the way to the house but didn't realize it would be 30 minutes for other grocery store visits. That might be my biggest complaint of the whole visit. (The best meal we had was at Beal's Lobster Pier, with Archie's Lobster coming in at a close second. The worst was at the Jordon Pond House.Puffin's Perch is a fabulous home! The management company was helpful in getting a couple of questions answered during our stay.
