Would Never Stay Again

No surprise this was one of the only places with vacancies left for a late decision to attend Carnival. I pre-requested an early check-in for an overnight flight. Not only was that not granted but my room was not even ready by the stated 2pm check-in with me sitting in the lobby 2.5 hours practically begging. No guests allowed in the hotel during Carnival. Not even up to the pool even though one clown at the front desk assured me it would be no problem. Pillows are terrible. The AC in the room was leaking profusely. There was another big roof leak in the bathroom. Having been around the world and knowing the context of what to properly expect in Salvador, this place significantly underwhelmed. Pool pic is from a very disingenuous low angle that makes you think it is bigger than it is and practically connected to the beach. It is not. I would definitely recommend elsewhere.

We liked the pool but hated how the AC flooded our room every night. No microwave or coffee makers in room. Front desk unfriendly and overall poor service

A very basic hotel - book a suite and be prepared

I had expected that this wouldn't be a business class hotel and would reflect more of leisure/beach/tourist market. However, I wasn't prepared for just how basic the hotel was. Restaurant wasn't great either and pool area had only a few lounges.

Great hotel close to the best beach in all of North East Brazil. Because that part of the bay faces west, you get a fantastic sunset. Two great museums within walking distance. Always nice and breezy - no bugs. Lots to eat and drink right on the beach. A very safe part of town.

Welcoming but dated

The staff at the hotel were lovely - willing to help with anything. The breakfast was great. The hotel itself seemed quite dated and worn (the handle fell of the wardrobe when I first opened it) however everything was perfectly clean and the rooms had everything I needed for my trip. I was travelling for a conference so it was perfect for me - room service ran until 9.30pm which was great for when I returned late and didn't want to go out alone at night, and breakfast started at 6 which was great for the early mornings.

A lovely place in Salvador

Clean, friendly hotel right, right on the beach (though I'd recommend another beach just 150 yards over to the right). Rooms are simple but adequate. Staff are friendly and helpful, but with very limited English. The hotel breakfast is unlimited and diverse, with lots of healthy fruits, fruit salads, low-fat yogurt, but also ample choice of eggs, hot dogs, boiled bananas and such. The location is great, within easy walking distance of the old town, but in a reasonably quiet and safe neighborhood that is very much dominated by the locals rather than by tourists. Lovely to see how everyone's using and enjoying their beach (which, just as the surrounding streets and sidewalks, is thoroughly cleaned daily). Last not least, the hotel is a great deal for what it offers.

Lovely hotel.

Friendly hotel in wonderful location, excellent wifi and breakfast. Lousy fitness room, though. First-rate beach nearby. Old town within walking distance. Good value for money.

Racist experience!

I am white Canadian. A friend who lives in Salvador was going to come and meet me at my hotel . The employee at the reception told me that would be fine. I told him I was going to be at the pool on the first floor . He responded that he would let him go up there and meet me. When he arrived, he was told he couldn’t come in. I went down to the reception and asked why. I was told that he forgotten/ didn’t know the hotel policy. My friend was told to leave the hotel. Oh! I forgot to mention that my friend is black! He actually has taught in several universities around the world and speaks ten languages. Shame on you Marazul. I want to had that Fabiana, the reception manager was extremely nice and professional, and seemed very upset when I told her about this experience. Maybe something good will come out of this

Decent hotel in a great location

It's only a short walk to the lighthouse and fort, and a few good bars too so the location is the highlight. the rooms are old, tired and the air con is way too loud. However it does the job in Barra. They gave us breakfast room service at 3am because we had a 4am taxi ride to the airport, I admire their dedication to serve. English is sketchy but they try their best.

Right in Barrha, Salvador

Nice hotel with included breakfast. Staff didn't speak much English, and didn't smile a whole lot. Great location on the ocean and in the middle of Barra. Easy walking distance to some restaurants and venues.

Fantastic location by beach

This hotel is in a great location. There is a market around the corner and tons of restaurants within walking distance. You can also walk to the lighthouse and fort. You can hear the ocean waves from your room.. The rooms are bright and comfortable. Although the hotel is older, it is quite comfortable. The food in the restaurant is adequate. The worst part of the experience was the staff. They were difficult to work with and unhelpful. They made us feel like we were imposing on them. Their attitude marred the entire experience. However the location and proximity to the water still makes the stay worthwhile.

Overpriced, clean basic rooms with beautiful view

We only booked this hotel because it had the last available rooms during the World Cup. The rooms are basic, and clean with a strong odor of moth balls. The smell made sleeping difficult.
