Lavender Cabin is a spacious solar-powered off-grid cabin nestled in the Larch Hills between Salmon Arm and Enderby, BC. Perched above the Shuswap River, this unique timber-frame cabin is best suited for families, groups of friends, and small gatherings looking to enjoy nature together.
The cabin comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests. The private master bedroom features a king-size bed. Upstairs, there is a shared bedroom with a queen bed and a double bed, along with two double futons in the open living area. All linens provided.
Lavender Cabin has two full bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, as well as a simple outdoor shower for warmer months. Towels and hand soap provided, please bring personal toiletries.
The fully equipped kitchen includes a propane stove, fridge and freezer, French press coffee maker, and all the pots, pans, dishes, and utensils you'll need to prepare meals during your stay. Guests should bring all groceries, coffee, cooking oil, and personal food items needed for their stay. Salt and pepper, and dish soap provided.
The cabin is heated with wood and features three wood-burning stoves: one in the basement, one in the kitchen, and a beautiful masonry-style heater in the main living room. Firewood is included. If you're unfamiliar with wood heat, please take a few minutes to read the fireplace instructions before your stay.
Outside on the deck you'll find a propane barbecue, with propane provided.
For an additional $30 per stay, you can enjoy your own private wood-fired sauna. The fee includes firewood and sauna towels. Please note the sauna may not be available during periods of extreme fire danger or fire restrictions.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout your stay.
Lavender Cabin is ideal for guests looking to spend time together, whether that means sharing meals around the large dining table, relaxing in the sauna, exploring the forest trails, or simply enjoying the quiet of the Larch Hills.
Just off the kitchen is a screened-in porch with a wood-burning fireplace, creating a cozy place to relax on cool evenings. This fireplace is for ambiance only and is not used to heat the cabin. Firewood bundles are available for $20 each.
A short walk from the cabin you'll also find a large outdoor fire pit, perfect for gathering under the stars. You can purchase firewood from us or you're welcome to bring your own firewood.
Just outside your doorstep we have14 km of private maintained and signed walking trails. We recommend downloading the free avenza app and uploading our geo-referenced trail map so that you can see where you are on out trail system without service.
We welcome well-behaved dogs for a $25 per pet, per stay fee. Please note that there may be other pets on the property, so we recommend bringing friendly, well-socialized pets that are comfortable around other animals.
There are three other cabins on the retreat, but each is spaced 5–10 minutes apart by foot, offering guests a sense of privacy while still being part of our nature retreat.
Please note that the final 11 km to the property is along a well-maintained gravel and forest service road, adding to the cabin's peaceful, off-the-beaten-path setting. 4wd is recommended during the winter months.
Things to Do in the Area
Larch Hills is a beautiful four-season destination with plenty to explore during your stay.
In the winter, we're just 10 minutes from the renowned Larch Hills Nordic Ski Area, offering kilometres of groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails. Along the way, John's Ski Shack rents cross-country skis and snowshoes and also offers lessons if you're new to the sport. Larch Hills is just as enjoyable in the warmer months. The area offers excellent hiking and mountain biking, with trails connecting to the popular South Canoe mountain bike network.
Just 20 minutes from the cabin, you'll find Larch Hills Winery, where you can enjoy wine tastings featuring locally crafted wines in a beautiful countryside setting.
About 20 minutes down the hill towards Grindrod is Farmer John's Market, a favourite stop for local organic produce, groceries, fresh baking, coffee, and ice cream. (May-October)
Of course, many guests choose to simply relax at the cabin, enjoy the sauna, explore our private forest trails, and unplug for a few days.
