Experience The Impossible Dream in its fullest form by booking the entire windmill property, including both the unique windmill guesthouse and the separate Windmill Basement Suite.
Together, the two spaces sleep up to 5 guests—3 in The Impossible Dream and 2 in the Basement Suite. With two separate living spaces and private entrances, it's an ideal setup for families, two couples, or small groups travelling together.
The story of The Impossible Dream began in 1978, when the windmill became a landmark in Dead Man's Flats, just outside Canmore, Alberta. When it was destined for demolition to make way for condos, it was rescued, carefully moved to Rosebud, and transformed through an extensive four-year renovation into the remarkable guesthouse it is today.
The Impossible Dream features an octagonal bedroom, a 360° wraparound upper deck, a secret third-floor Blue Library, a Wolf stove, handcrafted European beechwood countertops, hand-hewn oak flooring, Douglas fir beams, and a custom tadelakt shower.
At the base of the windmill, the separate Basement Suite offers a bright studio with a king-size bed, in-floor heating, above-ground windows, and its own collection of handcrafted details—including a spectacular plastered tree that rises from floor to ceiling and spreads its branches across the ceiling.
Outside, enjoy the upper and lower decks, rural views, and a private fire pit with built-in seating—perfect for gathering together beneath the prairie sky.
Located in the heart of Rosebud, you're within easy walking distance of Rosebud Theatre, cafés, shops, galleries, and the Rosebud Museum. Horseshoe Canyon is about 10 minutes away, Drumheller approximately 25 minutes, and the Royal Tyrrell Museum about 30 minutes.
Pet-friendly and full of character, The Entire Windmill offers your group a chance to stay in a truly unusual piece of Alberta history.
Two spaces, one unforgettable Rosebud experience.
