La Maison du Loir

An historic house nestled in the tranquility of an Alpine village. Amid the delightful sounds of cowbells from grazing cattle, it offers a wonderful view of the beautiful village of Dronero and Mount Bisalta. It is situated at the entrance to the wild and lush Maira Valley and just a few hundred meters from the RocceRe Archaeological Site. At an elevation of 1,200 meters above sea level, it offers a consistently cool and breezy climate, especially during the summer months.A haven of tranquility for all seasons.

You can spend your summer or winter vacation at theentrance to the wildest and most authentic valley in the Province of Cuneo. Over the years, the Maira Valley has carefully preserved its cultural and architectural heritage just as it was more than 50 years ago. A true gem of the Cuneo region, it has also succeeded—thanks to the commitment of its community—in developing the infrastructure needed to welcome both domestic and, above all, international tourists. Many friends from across the Alps and the Nordic countries visit our area with curiosity and respect, returning home enriched by cultural and culinary experiences.

Amid the evocative sounds of cowbells and the enveloping fragrance of freshly cut hay, you can let yourself be lulled by the sun and the mountain breeze in complete relaxation. The noise, hustle, and bustle of city life will instantly become a distant memory. You can enjoy the well-equipped outdoor area year-round. This area features an outdoor garden table with four chairs, two very comfortable lounge chairs, and a very large umbrella. This “patio” can be used year-round, though you’ll enjoy it most in the summer. The area is adorned with countless summer flowers to delight your eyes.

Sleeps 6
The house features 2 double beds in each of the two bedrooms. You can also use the very comfortable double sofa bed in the living room, situated in front of the warm and cozy fireplace.


Well-Equipped Outdoor Area
You can enjoy the very well-equipped outdoor area year-round. This area features an outdoor garden table with 4 chairs, 2 very comfortable lounge chairs, and a very large umbrella. This “patio” can be used in all seasons, though you’ll enjoy it most in the summer. The area is adorned with countless summer flowers, a delight to the eyes.


75 square meters of living room space
On the first floor, you’ll have access to the living room and kitchen. The highlight, however, is the cozy and charming fireplace, where you can spend your winter evenings in good company, perhaps sipping a fine local wine. The kitchen is equally impressive, offering the ability to cook on your own thanks to a 4-burner induction cooktop and a medium-sized refrigerator. You can enjoy lunch and dinner in comfort at an antique table with four comfortable chairs.


2 Bedrooms
Up on the first floor, you’ll find two bedrooms, both overlooking the beautiful mountains that surround thethe charming village of Belliard. Both rooms are, of course, furnished with two double beds. Between the two rooms is a small but charming bathroom equipped with a shower, sink, and bidet.


Fireplace
Imagine yourself on a winter vacation evening. Snow falling heavily, visible through the window, while you’re warm inside with your family or closest friends, sitting together on a comfortable sofa and enjoying the cozy atmosphere that only a warm fireplace can provide.

Nature and Peace
One of the first sensations I experienced in this place nestled in nature was that of being enveloped in a blend of sounds and scents typical of rural landscapes long since gone. The noise, hustle, and stress of city life will instantly become a distant memory.

MONTE ROCCERÉ
Mount Rocceré is located on the watershed between the Varaita Valley and the Maira Valley, on the border between Melle and Roccabruna. A metal cross stands atop its peak. The surrounding area is known for numerous indentations in the rock, once believed to be protohistoric cup marks. However, recent studies by the Superintendency and the University of Genoa have revealed that these are actually “gnammas”—natural cavities caused by erosion typical of periglacial mountain areas—which differ in shape and origin from true cup marks.


Rocca la Meja
Rocca la Meja (2,831 m) is an imposing mountain in the Cottian Alps, located in the upper Maira Valley, in the municipality of Canosio. It rises above the Gardetta, Margherina, and Bandia plateaus, distinguished by its sharp rocky ridge formed of vertically stratified dolomitic limestone. Its pyramidal profile is clearly visible from both the south and the north. The standard ascent route follows the south face and requires mountaineering skills. From the summit, one can enjoy a sweeping panorama of the Western Alps.


Dronero
Dronero, a charming Piedmontese town with 7,029 inhabitants, sits on a rocky spur at the entrance to the Maira Valley. Inhabited since ancient times by Celto-Ligurian tribes, it was caught up in wars and various periods of rule until it came under Savoyard rule. In 1749, it was granted city status. Famous for the Devil’s Bridge, it still preserves ancient walls and a charming historic center. Awarded the Medal of Military Valor, Dronero boasts a rich cultural heritage and a vibrant history of craftsmanship, industry, and the partisan movement—a symbol of courage and identity.


The Maira Valley
The Maira Valley, in the province of Cuneo, is a picturesque Alpine valley traversed by the Maira Stream. About 45 km long, it stretches from east to west between imposing mountain ranges, bordering France and the Po Valley. Rich in side valleys, limestone plateaus such as the Gardetta, and spectacular peaks like the Brec de Chambeyron, it offers breathtaking landscapes. Its geological diversity and varied flora make it an ideal destination for hiking, nature, and tranquility.
