Literally, just outside these imposing fortified walls, you can witness the coming and going of boats, from the smallest fishing vessel, through yachts, to the tallest of cruise liners in Mandraki harbour and indeed the bustling cosmopolitan attractions of the New Town do provide a fascinating contrast.

Walking along and through the charming narrow alleys and steps of Gennadi may lead you to the two beautiful Byzantine churches of Ioannis Theologos and Anastasia, actually built with the material from the demolished tower of the Knights.
