Noise as the bar is close to the bedrooms. Very hard to get to the city from and to the hotel as we have to walk up and down a lot. No shuttle service for the hotel gate to the reception. Breakfast bar is poor for a 5 hotel start and to the cost. Cheap Nescafé in the room not even a proper coffee maker. Lights in the balcony turn off at 2:30am which is too late. No proper noise policy for guests to respect.

this property was amazing …water access, gym , easy access to cinque Terra…. great reastaurants and no crowds in rapallo …. and play tennis no english needed ! the breakfast was the big disappointment! we stayed at all 5 stars in Rome, Florence, Asissi and rapallo… all had amazing breakfast except this hotel ….its older , but no excuse to be the best … you must look what other hotels serve …. canned fruit is not acceptable

Beautiful high end hotel. Great breakfast, live music at bar, very comfortable bed and room. Beach club included and infinity pools looking over water and city! Great experience. Only issue is you need a taxi as 2/3 mile from train station. 16 euros. Would be nice if they had complimentary shuttle. Besides that we will return for sure!

Lovely hotel in the traditional Italian Riviera style. Staff could not have been more helpful. Food and service were excellent. Only criticism was the lack of a shuttle service to the centre of town which, given the position of the hotel on top of a hill, the high cost of local taxis and the high temperatures, made it difficult for older customers or those with mobility difficulties.

Very Disappointed!

Hotel was in a great location, but upon entering our junior suite room for a "5" star hotel we were extremely disappointed! The room had a horrible perfume smell, was very dated, and felt more like a 2 star hotel. Maybe it was a 5 star hotel 50 years ago, but i wouldnt consider it one now. After reaching out to management about the smell, they looked at us like we were crazy and said there is nothing sprayed in the room. The hotel sent up housekeeping to check the room, and they confirmend that they indeed do spray a perfume in the room daily!!! For the amount we spent on this 5 star hotel room we much rather have stayed somewhere else for cheaper. Save your money and stay somewhere else! Id rate this hotel a 3 star Max!

This charming step back in time has beautiful views property wide! An easy walk into city center you can find shops, restaurants and photo ops down lovely cobbled streets. Don’t miss the cable car up to Montanerra- beautiful!

We really enjoyed our stay at the excelsior palace. Beautiful hotel. Staff were so friendly and helpful and always on hand. We arrived and were showed to our rooms with a gift waiting for us on arrival. Breakfast was great aswell. I wouldn’t say the rooms were soundproof. We could hear our neighbour on the phone and the people above but thankfully I already were ear plugs at night. The only thing I would suggest changing would be the paper cups in the room with the kettle. For a 5 star hotel I would really expect ceramic mugs. we would definitely reccomend staying here and would stay again.
