A Masterclass in Incompetence and Indifference

From the moment we arrived, this hotel made it clear that customer service was an afterthought. The check-in process set the tone: they aggressively demanded our car’s *registration number* (not the license plate, as she condescendingly clarified). Things only got worse when I attempted to redeem the prepaid massages I had already booked. Instead of verifying the reservation, the same administrator argued that I hadn’t paid and insisted I book (and pay) again with the spa. Only when I was moments away from showing my confirmation did she grudgingly retrieve the vouchers from a drawer beneath her—as if this were somehow my fault. Her dismissive "humph" and deflection ("the spa’s fault") were laughable, given this is a spa hotel run by the same company. The true disgrace was the air conditioning debacle. After checking into a sweltering **28.9°C (84°F)** room—a dangerous temperature to remain in for extended periods—I turned the AC on and left for five hours, hoping for relief. Upon return, the room had only dropped to 25°C (77°F), still unacceptably warm. When I sought help, they responded with zero empathy, declaring there was "nothing to be done"—no technician, no manager, no solution. Her audacious response to my five-hour wait? **"Why did you wait so long?"** (Yes, really.) A hotel that can’t manage basic customer service, honor prepaid services, or maintain safe room temperatures has no business charging guests these rates. Stay elsewhere if visiting the waterpark.

As much as we liked the view from our room, the location of the hotel, and the included breakfasts we will likely seek another hotel should we return to the area in the future. The room was small for three adults. We had a lot of access issues with our room cards (at times they worked other times not during midday). The water park was way too crowded. We were told we would have to pay extra for the hotel’s pool access which seems ridiculous and is not made clear in the hotel’s advertisement. We were denied an extra towel to replace a towel that got soaked while at water park. Hotel guests should NOT have to pay for parking on hotel grounds!

Our Stay at Terviseparadiis

We recently spent a delightful weekend at Terviseparadiis with our grandchildren and returned richer for the experience. As someone who travels frequently, comparisons with previous experiences inevitably arise. Firstly, the water park was wonderful. Our grandsons truly enjoyed their time there—the water was at a comfortable temperature, there was ample space, and it wasn’t overcrowded. The water park guards were dedicated and professional, which added to our sense of safety and enjoyment. I was delighted with the Spa service. Masseuse Tiia in room 229 was exceptional, and I would recommend her to everyone looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. The PURPUR restaurant provided pleasant and fast service. The breakfast was rich and tasty, though I believe the dining room could be made cosier to enhance the overall dining experience. However, what was somewhat disappointing was the general service culture of the hotel employees. I understand that it is summer and many young people are working as substitutes, but basic expressions of courtesy and smiles were lacking. Despite being beautiful young women, the reception staff seemed more focused on their computers than on welcoming guests. This made me feel unwelcome as a customer. It was also a bit inconvenient that I had to drive halfway back to the hotel because the employee inadvertently left some costs off the bill. This reminded me of service standards from the 90s
